Move like a shadow, strike with force. The Orokin created a Warframe that marries damage and stealth to eliminate sensitive problems, but he disappeared in the chaos of their demise. All that remains is a batch name: Cyte-09.

Locked and loaded with his bullseye on the prize, nothing evades his crosshairs. A flash of gunfire before quickly repositioning, empowering his weapons to quickly eliminate his next targets. Whatever his original name was is lost to history, but he goes by a new designation: Cyte-09. Proximity alert at the rendezvous... impromptu target practice, right on cue.

Cyte-09 set his sights on Update 38.0 (2024-12-13): 1999.

Acquisition

Cyte-09's main blueprint is acquired upon completion of The Hex quest. His component blueprints are acquired from Höllvania Central Mall Bounties as an uncommon drop.

Alternatively Cyte-09's blueprints can be purchased from Amir of  The Hex; component blueprints for  20,000 and requires Rank 2 - Fresh Slice, and the main blueprint for  50,000 and requires Rank 4 - Hot & Fresh.

Lore & History

I can offer one service, at least. I discovered a clandestine blueprint among my Albrecht's personal effects, for a Warframe so secret it was never named. It is yours.
Loid

Crafted by the  Orokin to carry out highly sensitive missions, this Warframe was never given an actual name, only addressed by its batch name: Cyte-09.

After the fall of the Orokin, Cyte-09 would disappear during ensuing chaos.

Notes

  • Currently,  Reconifex lacks a Signature Weapon bonus with Cyte-09.
  • Cyte-09 possesses two Appearance Auxiliary Attachments that make him more visible to players during his Invisible ability  Evade: Semi-Cloak, which makes the Warframe semi-transparent; and Glow-Cloak, which produces an opaque glow. These appearances are affected by primary energy color and do not alter how enemies perceive the player.

Trivia

  • Cyte-09 is the 59th unique Warframe to be released.
    • Despite being revealed first at TennoCon 2024, Cyte-09 releases after  Koumei, the 58th unique Warframe.
    • His full ability showcase was demonstrated in Devstream 183, after the dedicated Warframe: 1999 update page unveiled the ability descriptions.
  • Sketches for Cyte-09 were conceptualized by artist Keith Thompson many years before his formal reveal in TennoCon 2024, under the codename "Frumentarius". He would have had chemical themes, implying that Cyte-09's original concept art might have been intended for  Lavos at first.[1]
    • The frumentarii were a Roman intelligence service active between the second and fourth centuries CE, acting primarily as secret police and carrying out assassinations on the emperor's behalf, similarly to how Cyte-09 was meant to "eliminate sensitive problems" for the Orokin.
  • Cyte-09 is the first Warframe to include a hyphen and numbers in their name.
  • The name Cyte may refer to the Technocyte Virus, which itself is named after the mutagenic virus of Dark Sector.
    • The full name, Cyte-09, may also be a play on the term 'Cytokine', the proteins that activate and supress various parts of a body's cell responses, particularly the immune system.
  • He is the first Warframe to have an Exalted Sniper Rifle.[2]
  • Cyte-09 is the first Warframe to have its Protoframe variant revealed before the Warframe itself.[3] This protoframe's name is Quincy Isaacs.
  • His second ability,  Resupply, is the first ability to utilize the Gear wheel user interface for multiple features selection.
  • Cyte-09 produces radio chatter noise when casting his abilities.
  • When moving, Cyte-09 produces army uniform shuffling sounds as his footstep audio.

Passive

 Cyte-09 gains Practiced Aim when he kills an enemy by damaging their Weak Points, increasing his Critical Chance against weak points by 1% up to a maximum of 300%, lasting for the entirety of a mission.

  • Critical chance bonus is additive to similar mods such as  Point Strike.
  • Additional critical chance from Cyte-09's passive can raise the Critical Tier of his equipped weapon.

Plant an antenna that projects a forward wave scan. Detected enemies take increased Weak Point Damage, and become visible through walls. Weapons gain Punch through.

Info

  • Cyte-09 expends 25 energy to plant an antenna that scans enemies within 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 meters at a 75 degree frontal angle, lasting for 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 seconds. The antenna is an Invulnerable intangible stationary object that pulses a scanner wave every ? seconds. When washed over by the wave, enemies are detected for 5 seconds, having their silhouette and weak spots highlighted through walls and receive 30% / 45% / 60% / 75% increased damage to weak spots. While an antenna is active, Cyte-09's primary and secondary Weapons gain 10 meter Punch Through against enemy bodies and infinite punch through against terrain. A maximum of 3 antennas can be planted.
    • When casting the ability, Cyte-09 rises into the air then drops to the ground to slam the antenna in front of him. The antenna can be placed on solid surfaces and in mid-air.
    • Enemies scanned by Seek are marked on the minimap for all players.
    • Detected enemies are only highlighted through walls for the user and allied Cyte-09 Warframes.
  • Ability Synergy: Seek highlights weak points for Cyte-09's 1% Critical Chance from weak point kills passive,  Evade's duration extension and health restore, and  Neutralize's ricochet.
  • When Cyte-09 has undergone Polarization via Forma, his primary energy color highlights the weak spots, while his secondary energy color highlights the enemy's silhouette.

Throw two Elemental Ammo Packs that instantly refill the active weapon's magazine, while granting the weapon an additional instance of the selected Elemental Damage and Status Effect. Reload clears the effect. Sniper Rifles gain extra damage.

  • Cyte-09 expends 50 energy to instantly Reload his currently equipped weapon while throwing forward 2 ammo packs. Looting the Ammo packs will instantly refill the equipped weapon's magazine, receiving an additional instance of 10% / 15% / 20% / 25% damage (20% / 30% / 40% / 50% for Sniper Rifles) and guaranteed status effects from the selected element; on cast, Cyte-09 automatically enhances his currently held primary weapon, secondary weapon, or  Neutralize's  Neutralizer sniper rifle with an elemental damage bonus. Reloading the weapon (default R ) while buffed by Resupply will clear the elemental damage bonus. Ammo packs last indefinitely until collected and up to 6 ammo packs may be deployed on the field at once.
    • All players have their own instance of ammo packs. One player collecting an ammo pack will not remove another player's ammo pack from the mission.
    • Resupply ammo packs use a unique model exclusive to Cyte-09, and display their elemental damage type icon overhead.
    • All allied  Tenno can see the elemental damage type icons on their mini-map to locate specific ammo packs.
    • The held weapon at full magazine can only gain one elemental damage bonus at a time. Upon using at least one ammo, the weapon can gain the elemental damage bonus from another Resupply ammo pack on the ground.
    • Resupply ammo packs only refill ammo up to the magazine maximum amount, and will not restore the reserve ammo count.
    • Archguns and battery weapons (including Kitguns equipped with  Pax Charge) do not benefit from Resupply ammo packs.
  • Hold the ability to open a Gear wheel to select the elemental damage type of the reload and ammo packs:  Heat,  Cold,  Electricity,  Toxin,  Blast,  Radiation,  Gas,  Magnetic,  Viral,  Corrosive, randomize, or lastly selected. Tap the ability to deploy the last selected element.
    • By default, tap cast starts as randomize.
  • Ability Synergy:  Neutralize's  Neutralizer is a sniper rifle and thus receives the doubled damage bonus from Resupply's ammo packs.

Jump backwards and become invisible for a short duration. Killing enemies on their Weak Points extends the duration and heals Cyte-09.

  • Cyte-09 expends 75 energy to dodge backward ? meters, cleansing himself of Status Effects, bypasses his Shield regeneration delay, and becoming Invisible for 10 seconds. Weak point kills extend the ability's duration for 2 seconds to a maximum of 30 seconds and restores Cyte-09's Health by an 25 / 50 / 75 / 100. Has a cooldown of 60 seconds.
    • The ability's cooldown starts immediately when Evade's duration timer begins to count down.
    • Maximum ability duration is a cap on current duration, not total duration. It is still possible to remain invisible indefinitely as long as one can continue to make weak point kills.
  • Cannot be recast while active or on cooldown.
  • Ability Synergy:  Seek highlights weak points for Evade's duration extension and health restore.
  • Cyte-09 possesses two Appearance Auxiliary Attachments that make him more visible to players during his Evade: Semi-Cloak, which makes the Warframe semi-transparent; and Glow-Cloak, which produces an opaque glow. These appearances are affected by primary energy color and do not alter how enemies perceive the player.
  • Subsuming Cyte-09 to the Helminth will offer Evade and its augments to be used by other Warframes.
    • However, Subsumed Evade's base duration is reduced to 10 seconds and is capped at 15 seconds.

Bugs

  • If playing as client, enemies can still see and attack during Evade when its duration has been extended. Known issue requiring code fix for a later update.

Summon the Neutralizer, Cyte-09's exalted Sniper Rifle. Bullets ricochet off Weak Points to seek out other nearby Weak Points. Alt fire lobs a Cold grenade that completely freezes enemies.

Hotfix 38.0.6 (2025-01-09)

  • Fixed Cyte-09’s Neutralizer not being affected by many sources of Ability Strength (i.e. Precision Intensify, Energy Conversion, etc.).
  • Fixed bonus Invisibility duration from Cyte-09's Evade not properly applying to Clients.
  • Fixed bonus Heat Procs from Cyte-09's Resupply not stacking properly.

Hotfix 38.0.3 (2024-12-16)

  • Fixed Cyte-09’s Resupply Extra Damage bonuses not scaling with Ability Strength.
    • Also fixed some unexpected issues with certain weapons occurring when spamming the ability. We’ve added a very small (0.35 second) cooldown to help prevent these oddities.
    • Also fixed its ability preview video showing binding callouts.
