Edit Tab

Four beasts, one heart. Voruna's loyal wolf pack makes for a deadly combination of strength and stealth. Beware the monstrous howl that heralds fangs of vengeance.

Release Date: November 30th, 2022

Beware the telltale bloodcurdling howl when the primeval hunt begins anew. Nightfall engulfs the hallowed moonlit shrine, where sacred beasts of claw and fang prowl. Heed the wolven queen, Voruna, here she decrees her midnight feast. Reveling in feral carnage, her loyal lupine fiends, the silent Dynar, chaotic Raksh, ravenous Lycath, and ferocious Ulfrun ravage their prey once unleashed. Beneath lunar glow upon scarlet soil, tremble before her monstrous grin. Voruna and her wolves' hunt resumed in Update 32.2 (2022-11-30): Lua's Prey.

General

Voruna was once the warden and guardian of the Circulus, the holiest of the  Orokin's Yuvan temples on Lua where numerous rituals of Continuity were held. Conducted by the Yuvan Clerisy, these perverse rituals allowed the Orokin to transfer their consciousness into new, younger bodies to preserve their lives.

Due to the unique nature of Void Conjuctions that would appear on Lua, Continuity rituals held here would have an increased success rate. However the Void would often manifest latent thoughts and emotions as violent manifestations, which is the purpose of Voruna's duty. She would stalk the Circulus's halls, slaying any wayward manifestations with her pack of wolves by her side.

Voruna's Pack

When performing her duty as the Circulus's defender, Voruna had a pack of four wolves who would accompany her when protecting the rituals.

  • Dynar, the shadowed and stealthy. He provides Voruna with the vigilant gift of stealth that she may only take her enemies by surprise.
  • Raksh, the invigorating defender. Voruna's own loyal guardian, he ferociously guards his mistress and other pack members.
  • Lycath, the stalwart brother. With his hunt, he provides, becoming the soul of the pack.
  • Ulfrun, the Fierce and fanged. The most formidable of the pack, his strength is legendary.

Introduction:

Impressive, isn't she? The relentless hunting shadow of the night of Naga drums. The last thing many an Orokin lord ever saw. Voruna, She-Wolf Incarnadine. The Heart of the Pack. Hunter of god-prey.

We remember her as a primal horror. The pitless devourer stalking burning cities of white-and-gold, slavering for god-flesh.

This was not always so! Once, Voruna was the obedient guardian of the Circulus, the holiest of Yuvan temples upon none other than veiled Lua. Like a loyal beast, Voruna would roam Lua with her four steel-maned wolves: the stealthy Dynar, the invigorating Raksh, the stalwart Lycath, and the fierce Ulfrun. But what they were sworn to guard was perverse, wrong. In a ceremony reeking of Kuva, the Orokin candidate would force their consciousness into the new chosen body - the Yuvan - consigning the mind of the hapless former owner to oblivion. They called this life-extending process... 'Continuity'.

Executor Tuvul was one of the ruling Seven and head of the Yuvan Clerisy: high-ranking officiators who enacted the hideous ritual. All of whom... were now all dead, torn apart, all save for Tuvul... now a man pursued. He abandons his family to that night of horrors, his friends to the flames, and whips his slaves to ferry his decrepit, dying body to... his personal ship. Destination? Void-locked Lua. Purpose? To initiate one final ceremony. To trade one last body - one last life - for his own. Before the Empire burned.

To slip the noose and escape the relentless hunting shadow that had, one-by-one, in just one night, found and eviscerated every last one of his Clerisy peers. The shadow that had once protected them.

I never liked Tuvul. What followed made me loathe him even more.

View Cinematic:

Dynar:

Here is Dynar, the shadowed. He gave Voruna the gift of stealth that she might only take by surprise - but never be taken.

Hm. Let us speak of what made the Circulus special: the first Void Conjunction.

It came suddenly, steeping Lua in malevolent, lashing Void-stuff. Within the moon-plasm, thoughts took horrifying physical forms. Imaged dredged up from childhood nightmares, or adult neuroses were abruptly tangible and real. Madness overtook many.

It was to this place - the Circulus - that Tuvul fled through a Void tormented by an extremely unusual Conjunction. Thrashing eddies, violent currents, and the appearance of horrifying beasts never seen before or since. It was as if, some noted, the fabric of the universe echoed the upheaval tearing apart the fabric of the Origin System. Coincidence? I have lived too long to believe so but can provide no explanation greater than that.

Hoping against hope that the Void would keep the shadow that stalked him from picking up his trail, Tuvul touched down upon the powdery skin of sacred Lua.

What Tuvul lacked in loyalty, he made up for with rat cunning. He should have known better.

Raksh:

It is unclear precisely why Lua is a site of very special Void Conjunctions, but enacting Continuity within the Circulus and Yuvarium thereupon guaranteed a safe and strong transition... so long as certain rituals were correctly observed.

A privilege reserved only for the Seven themselves.

Imagine the scene as the innocent Yuvan would have witnessed it. The vivid insanity of it all. The appointed Soprana bridging the gap between worlds with her song. The Orokin Executor shrilling the ritual worlds. The bone-white Void creeping in on all the fronts. The Kuva steaming scarlet in its glass bowl. And the imposing wolf-giant, Voruna, pacing the perimeter, four loyal wolves at her side.

This wolf you see here is Raksh, the defender, Voruna's own loyal guardian, as she protected her Orokin overlord from whatever madnesses the Void Conjunction would bring.

Of which there were many. And on that night, Tuvul had no such guardian. Quite the opposite.

Now, Tuvul would need flesh into which he could pass, but the shipments of fresh young bodies from across the System were no more. Tuvul, we will see, had laid a dark contingency.

Rat cunning, as I said.

Lycath:

The third of Voruna's wolves. Lycath, the stalwart brother, the provider, and soul of the pack.

We know that Voruna and her wolves had served rite and rite. She had watched the mists and savagely destroyed anything that menaced the ceremony, flanked by Lycath's fury.

The Yuvan Ceremony - 'Continuity' as they called it - was an obscenity. The Orokin elite, aged and foul, would slouch and leer as the 'Yuvan' - young men and women cultivated on red Mars and worlds beyond for this dire purpose - were paraded before them. They would make their choice, conduct the ritual, and then, well, that young life would be gone, and when those eyes opened once more, it would be their murderer looking out from behind them.

Is it any wonder Voruna, freed from the leash of loyalty, was so intent upon making a meal of the Yuvan Clerisy? I think not.

Let's get to dessert, shall we?

Ulfrun:

Behold: Ulfrun the Fierce. The most formidable of Voruna's spet.

Executor Tuvul scrambled to set up the ritual room. This time the ceremony was different. Instead of a Soprana, there was a mere Mandachord playing automated notes. And instead of the prepared Yuvan, there was a most unusual cryopod - containing a young child, sleeping peacefully. The aforementioned contingency.

In Tuvul's hands, so it is said, were an artifact and a codex belonging to none other than Albrecht Entrati himself: Father of Void Travel and a man who had sacrificed his sanity to it.

Tuvul opened the book to pages strange and profane. We know this, having retrieved it from the site much later. It is my belief that Tuvul intended to protect himself from the horrors the Void would unleash, using what amounted to a madman's grimoire. A desperate act indeed.

I like to imagine that, as he parted his withered lips to begin the ceremony, to call down the Void... that was the moment he heard Ulfrun's ravening howl.

Executor Tuvul:

From Void signatures, evidence at the site, and what recording technology survived that once-in-a-lifetime Void Conjuration, I infer the following. Forgive an old man some dramatic license.

The Kuva was poured, the lamps were lit, and the ritual of Continuity began.

As Tuvul intoned the barbarous versicles of Continuity, a horde the breadth of which had never before been seen at such a ceremony massed in the gathering Void. Things with two heads or none, lopsided, broken-horned, perhaps drawing their being from Tuvul himself, as if expressions of his vice.

At this moment, I believe Voruna and her pack attacked, hoping to end the ceremony before it began. No such luck. The circle site was later found to be treacherous with the remnants of slain abominations.

Voruna and her wolves tore into the manifestations, rending with axe and fang. While Tuvul droned on, panicked, the pack hacked and tore their way through the throng toward him.

Why was Tuvul not the first to fall? I cannot answer. Perhaps Albrecht's work had something to it. Or perhaps those beasts simply understood that this wretched old man was the only thing keeping the door open for them.

Tremors shook the surface of Lua, and a great cry rang out, like that of a mother crying for her children. Tuvul sweated. The Kuva trembled in its bowl.

Voruna was relentless, demons falling to blade and fang. But it was not enough. The hordes of the Void are without number, and this one? If Hell has a Hell, then those monsters knew it well.

Gentle-eyed Raksh was the first to fall to the scything blades. They killed Lycath next, then Dynar, and Ulfrun last of all. Voruna had howled many times before, in hunger, in anger, and in triumph, but now for the first time, she howled in grief.

 Voruna:

Voruna trod and swung without relent toward the circle - carrying, by their silver scruffs, the severed heads of her fallen, beloved wolves. Severed from their dead bodies by her own hand.

With one last ululating cry, Tuvul's ritual had reached its peak. Within the cryopod, the child's eyelids fluttered and Voruna... staggered. In what scratchy stills survived in Void-corrupted datamasses, what I saw between child and Warframe was... recognition.

Tuvul took some meager scrap of courage from this delay and reached for the bowl of Kuva, now boiling and steaming with weird energies.

Voruna struck him aside and seized the energized Kuva - not for herself, but for her wolves. Holding it high, she doused herself - and her slain packmates - with it.

Embraced by the seething crimson glow, connective tissues propagated. Sinew reached for bone, and within that marriage of occultism and science, she and her beloved wolves became one.

Her brethren lived again. In her. Voruna was now, and evermore, the heart of the pack.

Cheated of his continuity, Tuvul turned to flee. But his former warden was having none of it.

Those who came after found nothing but gnawed bones, some of them unusually long, twisted within shreds of white-gold raiments.

Good.

I did salvage one final image from those Void-corrupted datamasses, however. That of Voruna herself, striding back toward her craft, the child cradled in her arms.

Curious.

During The Collapse where the Orokin Empire fell and the Tenno had turned on their masters, Voruna and her pack pursued the head of the Yuvan Clerisy, Executor Tuvul, to the Circulus, who was attempting to perform Continuity on himself to escape his demise.

As Tuvul reached the temple, he brought forth a profaned tome that belonged to Albrecht Entrati; the  Grimoire. Using the knowledge of the Void stored within, Tuvul started the ritual, attempting to transfer his mind into the body of a child; one who was stored in a peculiar cryopod. As the incantations started, a horde of manifestations were summoned, presumably drawn from Tuvul's vice.

Voruna and her pack tore into the abominable creatures, hacking and slashing them to pieces, but they were eventually overwhelmed; Raksh was the first to fall. Then Lycath, Dynar, and finally, the fiercest of them all, Ulfrun, was slain. As Tuvul's ritual neared completion, Voruna, howling with grief, took the severed heads of her fallen wolves and pushed him aside to hijack the Continuity, performing it on herself instead. Dousing herself and her pack-mates with the seething crimson, Voruna and her wolves were reborn, now fused together into a singular entity, who proceeded to mercilessly devour Tuvul. As Voruna left, she was last seen cradling the Operator in her arms.

Lua's Prey

As Lua rumbles, the Void exposes old scars and revives forgotten secrets. Smelling possible treasure, the Worm Queen's  Grineer have descended upon these newly exposed halls, only to be instantly  Corrupted by its long-dormant Orokin Neural Sentry. Believing that traces of Voruna could be found, the lesser Queen hopes to collar the Warframe and confine her to a cage.

Notes

  • If Voruna wields her Signature Weapons:
  • Voruna possesses two Appearance Auxiliary Attachments that make her more visible to players during her Invisible ability  Shroud of Dynar: Semi-Cloak, which makes the Warframe semi-transparent; and Glow-Cloak, which produces an opaque glow. These appearances are affected by primary energy color and do not alter how enemies perceive the player.
  • Dynar and Raksh are both labeled Voruna Armor in Voruna's Appearance Shoulder Pad Attachments, and are thus removable and/or replacable with other Shoulder Pad Attachments. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect voruna's usage on her abilities.

Trivia

  • Voruna is the 51st unique Warframe to be released.
  • Voruna's "wolf pack" consists of four different spectral wolf skulls attached to her shoulders and legs.
    • Dynar is attached to her left shoulder and wears a small metal patch over its front eyes.
    • Raksh is attached to her right shoulder and has mouth straps on its jawline.
    • Lycath is attached to her left leg, possessing horns and a nose ring.
    • Ulfrun is attached to her right leg, bearing a pair of long sharp fangs.
  • Her concept artwork, created in partnership with renown comic book artist Joe "Joe Mad" Madureira, were first revealed in TennoCon 2022's Art of Warframe panel.
    • Her colorized concept art was shown in Devstream 164, then her voted name reveal and the work-in-progress model sculpts followed in Devstream 165, and finally her gameplay demonstration in Devstream 166.
    • Chronologically, she was showcased before the 50th Warframe  Styanax, whose animated teaser debut came after in Tennolive 2022.
  • As a community incentive for donation to the Quest to Conquer Cancer 2022 campaign, the "Vote for the name for our Wolf-inspired Warframe" reward unlocked on October 21, 2022, in the official Warframe forums poll thread upon reaching $70,000 CAD. The reward tier was originally set at $80,000 CAD, then later shuffled forward to meet the internal development cutoff schedule.
    • Digital Extremes compiled a list of eligible names for the QTCC public poll reward, from the initial Design Council exclusive suggestion forum thread, which opened after Devstream 164 until October 14, 2022.
    • Once the QTCC poll closed, the top 5 names were used with Voruna coming out at first place, Raksha in second, Lycath in third, Ulfra in fourth, and Dynara in fifth.[1] The runner-up names were given to Voruna's four wolf-heads; aside from Lycath, DE decided to alter the other three wolves' names to be more gender-neutral.[2]
    • Voruna's name was suggested by Design Council member Orabell.
  • The name Voruna is a variation of Žvorūna, a name synonymous to Medeina, the Lithuanian goddess of forests, trees, and animals. In Lithuanian mythology, she is described as a lone voluptuous and beautiful huntress often escorted by a pack of wolves, with her form exuding both divine and demonic traits.
  • With the addition of Warframe Passives since Update 18.13 (2016-05-27), Voruna is the first newly-developed Warframe to not possess a dedicated passive ability of her own. Instead, each of her four abilities enables in-mission selection of a passive effect by holding down the ability button.
  • She was originally planned to release with The Duviri Paradox, which was delayed until 2023 for further development. In Devstream 165, she was announced to release with Lua's Prey instead.

Passive

Like a blood moon striding across the starlit night,  Voruna never hunts alone. Safeguarded by her four loyal wolves, she may freely invoke their protective passives anytime during a mission.

Hold down the ability button (default 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ) to invoke 1 passive into the UI indicator above the ability icons. Wolf passives persist indefinitely until switched, undergoing a cooldown (Ulfrun's Descent), or revoked by holding down the ability key again; while a passive is selected, the corresponding wolf skull on Voruna's body glows with energy, as a flying wolf skull orbits around her.

  •  Shroud of Dynar increases Parkour velocity by 50%.
  •  Fangs of Raksh grants complete resistance to new Status Effects.
  •  Lycath's Hunt imbues Voruna's melee weapon with an additive 100% Heavy Attack Efficiency.
    • Since heavy attack efficiency is hard-capped to 90%, the extra 10% is only visible and viable when equipped with a Riven Mod that penalizes it.
  •  Ulfrun's Descent has Ulfrun die in Voruna's place when she receives lethal damage, preventing bleedout, rendering her invulnerable for 3 seconds and restoring 100% of her shields and health. Ulfrun's passive undergoes a 60 second cooldown after his sacrifice or when swapped out.
  • Passives are only available from Voruna's original abilities. Therefore, a subsumed ability replacement from the Helminth system will disable the associated passive.
  • Passives are not disabled nor revoked when Voruna enters an ability-nullifying field such as from Nullifier Crewmen, or if she falls into an out-of-bounds zone.

Shroud of Dynar

(TAP) Dynar shrouds Voruna with invisibility and accelerates her speed. Invisibility ends when Voruna attacks. For a short time, melee attacks have increased Critical Damage and Status Chance and inflict Bleed. Melee kill an enemy during this time to extend the buff.

(HOLD) Dynar guards Voruna, increasing her Parkour Velocity.

Introduced in Update 32.2 (2022-11-30)

 Strength:+ 0.5 / 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 flat melee critical damage bonus
 Duration:8 / 10 / 12 / 14 s Invisible duration
5 / 6 / 7 / 8 s max melee buff duration
 Range:N/A

Misc: + 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 % Movement Speed bonus
≥100% absolute critical chance
≥ 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 % absolute status chance
 Slash status per melee hit
3 s min. melee buff duration
1 melee kill for buff extension
+55% passive parkour velocity buff

Info

  • Dynar enshrouds his mistress in the night's veil to endow her with stealth, speed, and lethality. Shroud of Dynar expends 25 energy to render Voruna and her Companion both Invisible and accelerates her movement speed by +25% / +50% / +75% / +100% for 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 seconds, ending immediately upon ability expiration or when she performs a ranged weapon attack (default LMB ), or after the first melee animation completes when she performs a melee weapon attack (default E ).
    • Performing interactions such as picking up objects, Hacking, or reviving from Bleedout does not break invisibility.
    • Attack-related contextual actions (default X ), such as melee Finisher attacks and Parazon Mercy, will break invisibility instantly when the animation begins.
    • Invisibility duration timer is displayed on the ability icon.
  • While active, her melee weapon gains the following statistic buffs: +0.5x / +1.0x / +1.5x / +2.0x flat Critical Damage, Critical Chance set to a flat 100%, Status Chance set to a flat 25% / 50% / 75% / 100%, and guaranteed  Slash status effect per hit.
    • Melee weapons modded with above 100% critical chance and/or status chance are not affected by Shroud of Dynar's absolute chance bonuses.
    • Guaranteed  Slash status effect from Shroud of Dynar does not apply to non-melee strikes from melee weapons, such as explosions ( Wolf Sledge), projectiles ( Nepheri), and  Zenistar's special attack.
  • Leaving invisibility will extend the melee buffs for 3 seconds. While Shroud of Dynar is active, melee kill 1 enemy to extend the remaining buff duration to a maximum of 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 seconds.
    • Duration extension can only be triggered once per cast; any subsequent melee kills will not extend the ability further.
    • Max duration on melee buff can be immediately reached with a lethal melee hit on an enemy during the invisibility phase.
    • Melee buff total duration is calculated with the following expression:
Modded Duration = Minimum Duration + [(Max Duration - Min. Duration) × Ability Duration]
      • At ability rank 3 with a maxed  Continuity equipped, Shroud of Dynar lasts for 3 secs + [(8 secs - 3 secs) × 1.3] = 9.5 seconds
    • In-game Ability menu stat displays the minimum duration up to the max modded duration.
    • Buff duration timer is displayed as an ability buff icon beside Voruna's hitpoints indicator.
  • Hold down the ability button (default 1 ) to command Dynar to guard Voruna, changing her passive to a permanent +55% Parkour Velocity bonus for no energy cost.
  • Ability Synergy:
    • During Shroud of Dynar, Voruna blinks out then back into invisibility when casting  Fangs of Raksh,  Ulfrun's Descent, and Helminth abilities. Voruna remains invisible when casting  Lycath's Hunt, Transference, and attacking with the Operator.
    • While Shroud of Dynar's invisibility phase or melee buff phase is active, Ulfrun's Descent's  Slash damage benefits from the absolute critical chance and the flat critical multiplier bonus.
  • Cannot be recast during invisibility. Can be recast while melee buffs are active to end them immediately then become invisible.
  • Dynar visually idles upon Voruna's left shoulder. His distinct physical feature is the eyepatch covering his left first eye.
  • Voruna visually leaps and claws downward, cloaking herself in shadowy tendrils that envelop her body. Shadows dance around her feet while she kicks up a trail of dust clouds as she moves, while Dynar audibly growls and snarls.
  • Voruna possesses two Appearance Auxiliary Attachments that make her more visible to players during her Shroud of Dynar: Semi-Cloak, which makes the Warframe semi-transparent; and Glow-Cloak, which produces an opaque glow. These appearances are affected by primary energy color and do not alter how enemies perceive the player.

Augment

Main article: Prey of Dynar

Prey of Dynar is a Warframe Augment Mod for  Voruna. While  Shroud of Dynar is active a random enemy will be marked with a glowing effect, that enemy receives increased Damage Vulnerability. Casting  Fangs of Raksh on the targeted enemy increases its spread radius on death.

Prey of Dynar

Tips & Tricks

  • Activate Dynar's passive to make Voruna highly mobile when extracting from a mission. To further increase her survivability in the process, activate Shroud of Dynar while running through enemies to escape detection.
  • Shroud of Dynar is also a good way of surviving being overwhelmed by too many enemies by suddenly going invisible and interrupting their attacks, giving Voruna breathing space to plan for a counterattack.
  • Modding for high Ability Duration and combining  Infested Mobility gives Voruna the mobility to quickly speed through missions undetected.

Bugs

Bugs

  •  Blast detonations will break Shroud of Dynar invisibility.

Fangs of Raksh

(TAP) Raksh's fangs tear into your enemies. 5 random Status Effects are applied at 10 Stacks each on an enemy. On target's death, spread the Status Effects to other nearby enemies.

(HOLD) Raksh guards Voruna with Status Effect resistance.

Introduced in Update 32.2 (2022-11-30)

 Strength:100 / 150 / 200 / 250 ( Slash damage)
 Duration:N/A
 Range:30 m (range)
4 / 5 / 6 / 7 m (spread radius)

Misc: Invulnerable during dash
5 (types of random statuses)
10 (stacks per status)
Passive status effect resistance

Info

  • Raksh snarls in frenzy, pouncing beside his mistress as they inflict a grievously infectious wound on their prey. Voruna expends 50 energy to rabidly lunge forward at an enemy target over 30 meters, becoming Invulnerable during her dash then biting and slashing the victim upon contact. The enemy receives 100 / 150 / 200 / 250  Slash damage, alongside a randomized set of 5 different types of Status Effects, with each type stacked to 10 procs. Upon death while still afflicted by the chosen status effects, the enemy spreads them to all nearby enemies within a 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 meter radius at full status duration.
    • Eligible status effects inflicted by Fangs of Raksh include:
    • Fangs of Raksh cannot apply the following:
    • Fangs of Raksh does not require precise aim to cast, the ability targets the nearest enemy in direct line-of-sight and within the aiming reticle circle.
    • If Voruna's dash is interrupted by terrain and obstacles, the ability will still apply its effects onto the enemy target.
    • Voruna attempts to dash and position herself facing the target in melee range. When cast while using Maneuvers such as Bullet Jump and Aim Glide, she can overshoot and land behind the target.
    • Only the original five randomized status effects and total 50 stacks will spread from the target to other enemies. Only the original enemy target spreads status effects on death.
    • Status spread bypasses terrain and does not require line-of-sight from original target to other enemies nearby.
    • Fangs of Raksh does not spread its status effects if they expire before the target dies.
      • Aside from  Radiation which lasts 12 seconds and  Corrosive which lasts 8 seconds, most other status effects last only 6 seconds.
      • After casting this ability on the original target, the same types of status effects procced from different sources (e.g. Weapons, Companions, etc) can artificially extend Fangs of Raksh's kill window to spread the remaining active chosen status effects.
      • On spread, status damage calculation for damage-over-time status effects ( Slash,  Electricity,  Heat,  Toxin, and  Gas) is based on the averaged amount of damage dealt by Fangs of Raksh's chosen status effect types on the target prior to its death. Damage contributed by different sources (not from this ability) are also included in this calculation, as long as the other sources inflicted at least one status proc chosen by this ability.
    • Subsequent casts of this ability on the same enemy target can yield the same types of status effects from a previous cast.
  • Hold down the ability button (default 2 ) to command Raksh to guard Voruna, changing her passive to a permanent Status Effect resistance for no energy cost.
    • Raksh's passive only prevents new status effects from proccing on Voruna, but does not cleanse currently active status effects when invoked.
  • Ability Synergy:
    • Voruna blinks out then back into invisibility when casting Fangs of Raksh during  Shroud of Dynar.
    • Enemies with 5 or more status effects when killed extends  Lycath's Hunt's duration.
    • Enemies with status effects receive increased damage from  Ulfrun's Descent.
  • Can be repeatedly recast on the same enemy target.
  • Casting Fangs of Raksh is a full-body animation that displaces Voruna toward the direction of her target and interrupts other actions.
  • Raksh visually idles upon Voruna's right shoulder. His distinct physical feature is the mouth straps wrapped around his lower jaw.
  • Voruna visually leaps at high speed to her victim. Upon landing, she swipes her claws forward as her helmet and Raksh lean out to bite. A stylized ability icon of Fangs of Raksh decal appears on the ground below the target, fizzling with Void energy until fading away seconds later.

Tips & Tricks

  • Greatly synergizes with  Galvanized Aptitude,  Galvanized Savvy,  Galvanized Shot, and  Condition Overload.
  • Because of its ability to inflict status effects, Fangs of Raksh synergizes well with some of the Archon mods such as  Archon Continuity,  Archon Stretch and  Archon Vitality.
    •  Archon Flow does not synergize well, on the other hand, due to its requirement for  Cold-based kills and not just its status proc.
    • Do bear in mind, however, that the Archon mods will only trigger once. For example, if Fangs of Raksh applies its 10 stacks of toxin, you will only obtain a single stack of corrosive from  Archon Continuity.
  • Equipping  Prey of Dynar allows for a large increase in spread radius.
  • Activating Raksh's passive greatly increases Voruna's survivability in long missions as he makes her practically immune to new status effects - including self-stagger and self-knockback from explosive weapons.

Bugs

  • Casting this ability twice or more on the same target will only spread the status effects of first instance when the target dies.

Lycath's Hunt

(TAP) Lycath hunts to sustain the pack. There is a chance for enemies killed by melee attacks to drop health orbs and enemies killed by headshots to supply energy orbs. Increase the duration of Lycath's hunt by killing enemies affected by 5 or more Status Effects.

(HOLD) Lycath guards Voruna with increased Heavy Attack efficiency.

Introduced in Update 32.2 (2022-11-30)

 Strength:N/A
 Duration:8 / 12 / 16 / 20 s (duration)
+ 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 s (extra time per conditional kill)
 Range:N/A

Misc: 100% (health orb drop chance on melee kill)
100% (energy orb drop chance on headshot kill)
≥5 (number of statuses for extra time)
60 s (duration cap)
+100% (passive heavy attack efficiency)

Subsumable to Helminth

Info

  • Lycath tracks down his prey's scent as he scavenges for sustenance to feed the wolf pack. Voruna expends 75 energy and embraces her huntress' instinct for 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 seconds, drawing lifeblood and energy from her prey's demise. While active, each enemy killed by Voruna's melee attacks has a 100% chance to drop a Health Orb, while each enemy directly killed by Voruna's headshot hits has a 100% chance to drop an Energy Orb. Kill an enemy affected by at least 5 Status Effects to extend Lycath's Hunt's remaining duration by 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 seconds, up to a maximum duration capped at 60 seconds.
  • Hold down the ability button (default 3 ) to command Lycath to guard Voruna, changing her passive to a permanent 100% Heavy Attack Efficiency bonus to her melee weapon for no energy cost.
    • Since heavy attack efficiency is hard-capped to 90%, the extra 10% is only visible and viable when equipped with a Riven Mod that features a reduction in heavy attack efficiency (as it will subtract from the full 100% efficiency).
  • Ability Synergy:
    • Voruna remains invisible when casting Lycath's Hunt during  Shroud of Dynar.
    •  Fangs of Raksh stacks and spreads 5 different types of status effects on enemies to extend Lycath's Hunt on kill.
    •  Ulfrun's Descent's direct lunge and its  Slash status effect are considered a melee attack to proc Lycath's Hunt's Health Orb drops. Radial Slash damage does not count.
  • Cannot be recast while active.
  • Lycath visually idles upon Voruna's left upper thigh. His distinct physical features are the forward-facing spikes above his skull and his nose ring.
  • Voruna visually swipes and sharpens her claws with a menacing gesture. While active, shadowy tendrils emit from her upper body.
  • Subsuming Voruna to the Helminth will offer Lycath's Hunt and its augments to be used by other Warframes.
    • However, Subsumed Lycath's Hunt orb drop rate is reduced to 50% and cannot activate the passive.

Tips & Tricks

  •  Cedo's Alternate Fire can proc numerous different status effects to assist in prolonging Lycath's Hunt duration.
  • Beast Companion can extend Lycath's Hunt duration on kills with Claws, as they are considered melee weapons.
  •  Prey of Dynar increases the spread radius of  Fangs of Raksh by a large margin, making it easier to extend the duration of Lycath's Hunt.
  • Activate Lycath's Hunt before engaging in melee to provide Voruna an indirect means of self-healing with the greatly increased drop of Health orbs.
  • The increased Orb drop rate allows Voruna to effectively make use of  Health Conversion,  Energy Conversion,  Equilibrium,  Arcane Energize,  Arcane Eruption,  Arcane Pulse, and  Arcane Blessing.
    •  Equilibrium is particularly suited for a melee-centric Voruna, as she can quickly regenerate her Energy reserves by picking dropped Health orbs from slain enemies and keep hammering others with her other abilities.
  • For generating Energy Orbs with Lycath's Hunt, use weapons that allow easy kills with headshots such as sniper rifles,  Scourge's alt-fire, a raised-aim  Akarius, or Incarnon form of  Dual Toxocyst.

Ulfrun's Descent

(TAP) Voruna drops to all fours and prepares 5 brutal charges that lock onto enemies. Ulfrun, the most powerful wolf, leads the attack as Voruna dashes toward her target. The pack deals increased damage to targets and nearby enemies that are inflicted by Status Effects. Lethal attacks double the damage of Voruna’s remaining charges.

(HOLD) Ulfrun guards Voruna. If Voruna falls during this time, Ulfrun dies in her place.

+0.1 critical damage multiplier bonus on kill
 Stagger in area

Info

  • Ulfrun savagely bares his twin fangs as his mistress stalks their prey, poised to pounce from the shadows. Voruna expends 100 energy and assumes a predatory posture, holstering away her held weapons and laying down on all fours while stationary. Once activated, Ulfrun's Descent grants 5 charges that last indefinitely until used or dispelled, which Voruna can expend by aiming the reticle at an intended enemy target and pressing the fire weapon key (default LMB ) or quick melee attack key (default E ). While active, cancel the ability early and regain weapons access by pressing the ability key again (default 4 ), refunding 20 energy per unused charge back to Voruna.
    • The remaining charges of the ability are indicated by lit-up claw marks below the stylized aiming reticle.
    • Ulfrun's Descent does not require precise aim to cast, each charge targets the nearest enemy in direct line-of-sight and within the aiming reticle circle.
    • Ulfrun's Descent does not refund energy if Voruna enters an ability-nullifying field or falls into an out-of-bounds zone.
  • Hold down the ability button (default 4 ) to command Ulfrun to guard Voruna, changing her passive for no energy cost to a single charge of Invulnerability that prevents Voruna from entering Bleedout state from the next lethal hit, rendering her invulnerable for 3 seconds and restoring 100% of her shields and health. Ulfrun's passive undergoes a 60 seconds cooldown once triggered or swapped out.
  • Ability Synergy:
    • During  Shroud of Dynar, Voruna remains invisible when casting or cancelling Ulfrun's Descent, but blinks out then back into invisibility when lunging. While Shroud of Dynar's invisibility phase or melee buff phase is active, this ability's Critical Chance is set to 100%, and the flat critical multiplier bonus amplifies its  Slash damage.
    •  Fangs of Raksh stacks and spreads 5 different types of status effects on enemies to strengthen Ulfrun's Descent.
    • Ulfrun's Descent's direct lunge and its  Slash status effect are considered a melee attack to proc  Lycath's Hunt's Health Orb drops. Radial Slash damage does not count.
  • Voruna and her wolf pack's claws and fangs utilize unique statistics and ability synergy to inflict damage to their prey:

Mechanics
  • All of Ulfrun's Descent  Slash damage is affected by an innate 20% critical chance, 1.5x critical multiplier, and inflicts 100% bonus damage against enemies afflicted with at least one Status Effect.
  • Each charge lunges Voruna toward her victim over 30 meters, inflicting 2,000 / 3,000 / 4,000 / 5,000  Slash damage with guaranteed status and  Knockdown. Each successful direct kill by Voruna's lunge increases the damage by +200%, critical chance by 5%, and critical multiplier by +0.1 for all subsequent lunges.
    • The  Knockdown effect will apply to Acolytes.
    • Damage multiplier from successful kills is displayed below the stylized aiming reticle.
      • Kills from status effects do not strengthen subsequent lunges.
    • Damage multiplier is capped at +900% damage.
    • Critical Chance increase is capped at +22.5%, for a total Critical Chance possible of 42.5%.
    • Critical Damage increase is capped at +0.45x, for a total Critical Damage possible of 1.95x.
    • The cap for the increased damage, Critical Chance, and Critical Damage can only be achieved with  Ulfrun's Endurance equipped as they require 5 direct kills to reach.
    • The primary target of the charge receives double damage if any status effects are present on them at the time of collision. This multiplier only applies once.
    • If Voruna's lunge is interrupted by terrain and obstacles, the ability will still apply its effects onto the enemy target.
    • Voruna attempts to lunge and position herself facing the target in melee range. When cast while using Maneuvers such as Bullet Jump and Aim Glide, she can overshoot and land behind the target.
  • On each lunge, Voruna's target and other enemies within a 6 / 7 / 9 / 10 meter radius around her target receive  Stagger status once, then 250 / 500 / 750 / 1,000  Slash damage per second for 4 seconds.
    • Area damage per second bypasses obstacles in the environment and does not require line-of-sight to mark enemies.
    • Area damage can critical hit and is affected by the critical chance and critical damage increases from kills.
    • Area damage is affected by the double damage multiplier from having a status.
      • Requires a status effect on enemies being damaged by the area damage; status effects on the initial target will not increase area damage against enemies with no status effect.
    • Area damage does not apply a  Slash status despite inflicting damage over time.
    • Area damage is not affected by the damage multiplier from successful kills.
  • Ulfrun's Descent does not benefit from melee damage bonuses such as  Steel Charge.
  • Ulfrun's Descent does not count for Nightwave melee challenge kills.

Damage Formulas
  • Ulfrun's Descent's direct lunge damage is calculated with the following expressions:
    1. Total  Slash DMG = (Base  Slash DMG ×  Ability Strength) × [Base Crit DMG + (Crit DMG Bonus On Kill × Number of Direct Kills) + ( Shroud of Dynar Crit DMG ×  Ability Strength)] × [1 + (DMG bonus on Direct Kill × Number of Direct Kills)] × Status DMG Bonus
    2. Total  True DMG = 6 seconds × (Total  Slash DMG × 0.35)
    3. Total DMG = Total  Slash DMG + Total  True DMG
    • At ability rank 3 with a maxed  Intensify equipped,  Shroud of Dynar active, 4 successful direct kills, and a status effect active on the target, Voruna will deal (5,000 × 1.3) × [1.5 + (0.1 × 4) + (2 × 1.3)] × [1 + (2 × 4)] × 2 = 526,500  Slash damage on her fifth charge before damage type resistances.
    • Next, the  Slash status effect on the primary target will deal 526,500 × 0.35 = 184,275  True damage per tick for 6 seconds, totaling 6 seconds × 184,275 = 1,105,650  True damage from the status effect.

  • Casting and deactivating Ulfrun's Descent are conditional animations based on Voruna's current state:
  • Ulfrun visually idles upon Voruna's right upper thigh. His distinct physical features are the twin saber teeth on his upper jaw.
  • Voruna visually holsters away her weapons and lays down on all fours in a unique idle animation, as a persistent shroud of shadows emanate from her body and envelop the borders of the player's screen. Once she lunges, Voruna slashes her target with her claws, then emits a shadowy fog highlighting the radius around her as shadowy tendrils emit from all enemies marked for damage per second.
  • Voruna is incapable of wall latching while Ulfrun's Descent is active.
  • Voruna cannot cast Helminth abilities during Ulfrun's Descent.

Augment

Main article: Ulfrun's Endurance

Ulfrun's Endurance is a Warframe Augment Mod for  Voruna that restores  Ulfrun's Descent charges whenever a nearby enemy dies from  Slash status effect.

Ulfrun's Endurance

Tips & Tricks

  • Bring weapons that can inflict a large number of status procs on a group of enemies to maximize the punching power of Ulfrun's Descent in case Fangs of Raksh is unavailable, such as  Cedo and its glaive alt-fire,  Kompressa, atmospheric  Larkspur, or even  Kuva Nukor with its unique Microwave proc.
  • Infusing  Yareli's  Aquablades can trigger the increased damage of Ulfrun's Descent as it will inflict Slash status procs before you strike a target with Ulfrun's Descent.

Bugs

  • After a Mercy kill, Voruna's primary weapon will be brought out. While she still cannot fire it, holding your aim button will cause you to enter your weapon's aiming mode. Most noticeable with sniper rifles, as their unique scopes will be used.

Update 38.0 (2024-12-13)

  • Fixed Voruna’s Shroud of Dynar Augment, Prey of Dynar, selecting unkillable AI as its target.

Hotfix 37.0.4 (2024-10-10)

  • Fixed Voruna’s Prey of Dynar Augment applying range twice on Fangs of Rahsk’s spread radius.
    • Prey of Dynar increases the spread Range by 150%, from 7 meters up to 17.5 meters. If you equipped a max rank Stretch (45% range) as an example, the range is intended to go to 25.375 meters. However, we were erroneously applying Range mods a second time, causing it to go all the way up to 36.79 meters.

Update 37.0 (2024-10-02)

  • Augment: Shroud of Dynar -  Prey of Dynar
  • Fixed Voruna being able to Melee while in Ulfrun’s Descent, sometimes causing players to unintentionally lose her Shroud of Dynar invisibility while in Alpha Mode™.
  • Fixed Voruna’s jump getting reset after casting Ulfrun’s Descent mid-air.
  • Fixed issues with Voruna’s Fangs of Raksh line of sight checks not targeting enemies when an incline is in the way.
  • Fixed Voruna’s Ulfrun Descent not disabling after getting downed, causing player to be unable to shoot their Secondary or self-revive.
  • Fixed a case where Melee input would be ignored if aiming while switching to Voruna’s Fangs of Raksh passive.

Hotfix 36.0.3 (2024-06-20)

  • Fixed sprinting during Voruna’s Ulfrun's Descent not increasing her movement speed.
    • Also fixes her losing her custom animation and doing a standard walk.

Update 36.0 (2024-06-18)

  • Fixed reloading reticle remaining on the screen if Voruna’s Ulfrun’s Descent is cast mid-reload.
  • Fixed Voruna's wolf heads not having their passive glow when using her Voidshell Skin.

Update 35.5 (2024-03-27)

Customization For Warframes With Invisibility Abilities

Warframes now have Invisibility customization - no longer will you have to be strictly transparent!

Warframes with Invisibility abilities (Voruna) will now find customization options in the Arsenal under Appearance > Attachments > Auxiliary Attachments.

Instead of Invisibility being completely see-through, players can customize it from being more translucent/semi-transparent to non-transparency with an Energy glow gleaming from your character.

Semi-Cloak Option:

Glow-Cloak Optionl:

An alternate, opaque glow, for when the Warframe is cloaked. Does not alter enemy perception.

Invisibility colorization is affected by the primary Energy color of your Warframe.

Hotfix 35.0.4 (2023-12-20)

  • Fixed Voruna’s Shroud of Dynar not being extended with melee kills.

Update 35.0 (2023-12-13)

  • Fixed the damage multiplier HUD tracker for Voruna’s Ulfrun’s Descent not updating properly for Clients.
    • We had attempted to fix this in Hotfix 34.0.6, but it ultimately required a code fix which has been included in this update!
  • Fixed Affinity gained from killing enemies with Voruna’s Ulfrun’s Descent applying to the whole loadout, instead of to Voruna exclusively as intended (all Affinity gained from ability kills go to Warframe).
  • Fixed damage numbers from attacks affected by Voruna’s Shroud of Dynar being the incorrect Critical Hit color.

Hotfix 34.0.8 (2023-11-09)

  • Slightly increased the hold time needed to cycle Voruna’s passives to help prevent activating/deactivating a passive by accident.

Hotfix 34.0.6 (2023-10-30)

  • Replaced one of Voruna’s ability tips with a new one for Shroud of Dynar: “Shroud of Dynar's buff will only be extended if you earn a Melee kill within 3 seconds of exiting invisibility. Be precise and strike true.”
  • Fixed Voruna’s Shroud of Dynar invisibility breaking permanently after attacking with Ulfrun’s Descent.
    • With this fix, its intended function has been restored to break invisibility briefly during the lunge and then reapply.
  • Fixed the damage multiplier HUD tracker for Voruna’s Ulfrun’s Descent not updating properly for Clients.

Hotfix 34.0.5 (2023-10-26)

  • Enemies affected by the Slash proc from Voruna’s Ulfrun’s Descent attacks and then killed by it will now trigger the Health Orb drop chance from her Lycath’s Hunt ability.

Update 34.0 (2023-10-18)

Base vs Final Stats in Modding - Health / Energy / Shield / Armor Stat Overhaul

If you’ve spent any time invested in the deeper nuances of Modding, you may be familiar with “Warframe Math” - math that upon first glance doesn’t really make sense, but once you learn the inner workings of the game, it all comes together. While we can appreciate the value that complex systems offer to a certain subsect of players, there are other aspects of the game that should have clear and understandable outcomes. Namely: Shield, Health, Energy, and Armor Modding.

Pop quiz: what is 300 + 440%? If you answered 740, you may just be an Excalibur player.

Vitality (+440% Heath), Redirection (+440% Shields), Flow (+150% Energy), and Steel Fiber (+110% Armor) come with large modifier values that don’t seem to match their outcome in-game. This is because these Mods apply their multiplier to the base stats of the Warframe - i.e., the stats you have at Rank 0. In the Excalibur example, a Rank 30 Excalibur’s Health stat of 300 earns an additional 440 Health from max rank Vitality (+440% Heath) since it applies to his base rank Health stat of 100, resulting in 740 total health.

In this update, we have removed this obfuscation by having Health, Shield, Energy, and Armor Mods apply to the stats of Warframes at their current rank. Continuing our Excalibur example, instead of Vitality always applying to Excalibur’s base rank 100 Health, it would apply to his Health stat based on his rank - namely, the stat you can actually see in your Arsenal. If your Excalibur were Rank 30, his Health stat would be 300, which means Vitality’s multiplier would be calculated off of 300.

With previous Health and Mod values, additional adjustments are needed to make this revision work while maintaining game balance. By only changing where the multiplier applies, a Rank 30 Excalibur would receive an extra 1,320 Health from max rank Vitality, resulting in a total health stat of 1,600. This outcome is a significant buff, which is not the intention of this system change.

To remedy this, we approached this problem in two ways:

1 - We reduced the overall multiplier for Health, Shield, Energy, and Armor Mods.
Since these now affect Max Rank Warframe stats, these Mods need to scale differently to maintain the status quo. Additionally, we wanted these new values to be as clear and understandable to all players as possible! Here are a few examples of these value changes:

  • Vitality: Reduced from +440% to +100% Health
  • Redirection: Reduced from +440% to +100% Shield Capacity
  • Steel Fiber: Reduced from +110% to +100% Armor
  • Flow: Reduced from +150% to +100% Energy Max

Note: These are not all of the Mods affected by this change. We share the comprehensive list further down in this section of the update notes.

Doing some quick math, this means that a Rank 30 Excalibur (300 Health) with a reworked Vitality Mod (+100% Health, applied to the final Health stat) would receive 300 extra Health, for a total of 600. That, in contrast, is a nerf, which we also don’t want to do.

So, our next step:

2 - We adjusted Warframe Health, Shield, Energy, and Armor values to keep the end result of the revised Mods as close to the original values as possible.

With this change, Excalibur’s Rank 30 Health stat is 370. With +100% Health from a max Vitality Mod, his resulting Health stat would be 740, which matches what it was originally.

While this path to the same result may seem a little complicated, the outcome matches our intention: we want players to be able to look at their Health, Shield, and Armor Mods, and be able to understand how they affect the stats they see in their Arsenal.

In addition to everything above, we also increased the base stat values for Warframes so that these revised Mods offer similar value for lower-ranked Frames. To do so, we reduced the amount of Health/Shield/Energy that Warframes earn per rank in half, and transferred the sum of that value to their base stats.

For Armor, this is the one stat that does not increase with your Warframe’s level (with some exceptions). Armor values across the board have been slightly increased to compensate for the Mod changes.

Not to beat a dead Kaithe, but Mods will now be applying to the Max Rank stat instead of the Base Rank. You may look at these numbers and think “nerf” or “buff” depending, but the outcome is that total Modded values are the same, if not a little higher in some cases.

Warframe Stat Changes:

VORUNA
Health: Base Rank - 455 (from 150) / Max Rank - 555 (from 450)
Shields: Base Rank - 270 (from 100) / Max Rank - 370 (from 300)
Armor: Base Rank - 200 (from 190)
Energy: Base Rank - 100 (from 100) / Max Rank - 150 (from 150)

While there may be significant changes to Warframe Stats and Mod values as a part of this overhaul, the end result is that your Builds should mostly stay the same. The key difference is the added clarity of what your Health / Shield / Energy / Armor Mods do in your Upgrade screens!

Changes:
  • Voruna’s Ulfrun's Descent kills will now count as Melee for synergy with Lycath's Hunt Health orb drops.

Hotfix 32.2.6 (2022-12-14)

  • Fixed Voruna’s Ulfrun’s Descent giving Affinity on cast instead of when the ability is actually triggered by lunging at an enemy and dealing damage.
    • This fix follows suit with how Affinity for Warframe Abilities is granted across the board (ie. the Ability performs a function).
  • Fixed Voruna’s Fangs of Raksh passive preventing melee blocking (auto and manual).

Hotfix 32.2.4 (2022-12-07)

Voruna’s Ulfrun's Descent Changes:

After one week of Lua’s Prey being in your hands and reading your feedback, we have a few changes to Voruna’s 4th ability, Ulfrun’s Descent. The majority of Voruna's feedback has been centered around this ability and its damage output, with the desire to make it feel more deadly. Below is our first take on bumping up the ferocity and opening up more synergy with her kit. We will continue to review Voruna's feedback - we have a few more things we’re experimenting with!

  • Added 20% Critical Chance and 1.5x Critical Damage.
  • Every kill increases Critical Chance by 5% and Critical Damage by 0.5x.
  • Shroud of Dynar’s Critical Damage buffs also now apply to Ulfrun’s Descent.
Fixes:
  • Hotdropped Tuesday afternoon: Fixed being unable to purchase Voruna’s Blueprint more than once from Archimedean Yonta’s Lua Thrax Plasm trade in.
