Strips

Sonic the Hedgehog

Project Brutus is a 4-part story by Lew Stringer, Richard Elson and Ellie de Ville. Grimer has completed the creation of Commander Brutus, allowing Doctor Robotnik to share his brainwaves with the Badnik. In the Pleasant Zone, the Freedom Fighters are enjoying a break until Brutus arrives with a deadly group of Troopers.

Ecco the Dolphin

Return of Ecco the Dolphin is a 6-part story written by Alan McKenzie, drawn by Steve White and lettered by Tom Frame. Using his knowledge of The Vortex gained from The Asterite, Ecco sneaks onto the aliens' home planet and summons his old friends. Together, they plan to return to Planet Earth.

Knuckles and Tails

The Revenge of Trogg is a 6-part Nameless Zone story by Nigel Kitching and Elitta Fell. With the power of The Dark One, Trogg has managed to turn the Enchanter Kings into monsters. The energy needed removes the forcefield around the heroes, allowing them to steal the Dark Orb. However, they only make it to the Dimension Bridge before the villains catch them, so Tails casts it off into the non-existent space. The Dark One is destroyed and the Kings turn back to normal, but Trogg is furious.

Sonic's World

Cybernik Strikes Back is a 5-part story written by Stringer, drawn by Carl Flint, coloured by John M Burns and lettered by Fell. A group of prisoners are being taken to the Badnik Processing Plant but are intercepted by Shortfuse the Cybernik. The Cybernik destroys the majority of Troopers but barely survives a self-destructing guard. He soon reveals he is here to rescue Tekno the Canary, who can help him make a bomb. Elsewhere, Metamorphia is preparing to take on Robotnik's foe.

Features

Megadroid is suffering from the amount of emails being sent through Speedtrack, but still has time to introduce the stories and features this issue in the Control Zone. There is also news of the Hallowe'en mask coming free with next issue. In the Sega Charts, Brian Lara Cricket and FIFA International Soccer are still top of the Mega Drive and Mega-CD charts, respectively. Sonic Chaos moves to the top of the Master System pile and Micro Machines is the new Game Gear leader.

This issue's Graphic Zone is a "ghoulish" one, with Sonic and friends (and Grimer) getting to frighten young Boomers, although the creative artists also receive a pack of Crayola Overwriters. David Gibbon presents a special edition of the Q Zone, providing tips and passwords for Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time (MD), Alex Kidd in Miracle World and The Lion King (both MS).

Speedlines sees Megadroid answer letters from Boomers, with one being a poem about STC characters, another is a negative letter about B.A.R.F. and Ecco. The final letter needs to give Robotnik the Speedlines prize or they'll turned into a Badnik. All letters and drawings on the page earned the readers a Highgrove Sonic Stationary set.
