Issue 240 is the two hundred and fortieth edition of Sonic the Comic and the nineteenth overall edition of Sonic the Comic Online. Released on the 17th of September 2006, the issue contains three original stories (two of them new) as well as several features.

Strips
Sonic the Hedgehog
Dicing With Death is a complete story written by Jamie J, drawn by Adamis, coloured by Chris G and lettered by Charles Ellis. Dice, a member of The Family, has entered a rival casino with two bombs and demands to bankrupt them by playing Blacksnap. Sonic arrives to find the bombs and Tails hopes to provide a controlled win by losing badly at cards. Unfortunately, Tails is far too good and only a speed cocoon can stop the second bomb destroying the entire casino. Bean the Dynamite is the security officer responsible for the carnage.
Doctor Robotnik
Robotnik Forever! is a complete story by Ed Reynolds, Rich Morgan and Ellis. Robotnik seems to have come back to his senses and even manages to kill Sonic once and for all. However, it's just a robot built by Grimer and the lonely scientist spends the rest of the day repairing the Sonic model destroyed by Flashers. Next day, it all begins again...
Sonic's World
Bitten by the Gambling Bug is a 2-part story by Jamie J, with art from Adamis and Fast Ashadonic and letters by Ellis. Family member Herne has arrived to deal with Tails and Amy Rose. Whilst Tails is busy distracting the heavy, Harvestman drops in and bugs the fox with Zip the flea. Amy eventually defeats Herne, but the Freedom Fighters are now being watched.
Features
In this issue's Control Zone, Megadroid announces that STC is taking a hiatus so that the release schedule can be corrected. After introducing the issue's stories and features, there's also mention of Sonic's 15th birthday, STC's 13th anniversary, new Brickman Returns stories by Lew Stringer and Grott the Mighty from Nigel Kitching.
The Data Zone contains brief information on Sonic, Tails, Amy, The Family, Robotnik and Grimer. The 'story so far' is that, "for years, the evil Doctor Robotnik ruled Planet Mobius. Eventually, Sonic and his Freedom Fighter gang defeated Robotnik and freed the planet. Now they fight to keep it safe from whatever might threaten it. The Special Zone was recently destroyed, and the after-effects of this still remain…"
Pin-ups include a 3D Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog (Mike Corker) and two posters celebrating Sonic's 15th birthday (Adamis and Stiv).
