Issue 242 is the two hundred and forty-second edition of Sonic the Comic and the 22nd overall edtion of Sonic the Comic Online. Released on the 11th of May 2007, the issue contains three original strips (one of them new) as well as several features. The site itself has been redesigned and the occasion is marked with four variant covers.

Strips
Sonic the Hedgehog
Out of Psyche, Out of Mind is a 2-part story written by Jamie J, drawn by Adamis, coloured by Fast Ashadonic and lettered by Charles Ellis. Hell's Pantry has been overrun by massive flying whales and Sonic is stuck inside Oscura's body. Sonic soon realises that it is all an illusion and confronts Oscura, who reels off his attempts to break Sonic's mind. Sonic swaps bodies back by fighting the fear and sends Oscura packing.
Tails
In Cold Blood is a 2-part story by Jamie J, Adamis and Ellis. After narrowly escaping Bleed last time, Tails is in the Eldorado Zone District Hospital. Visited by Sonic, Tails suddenly gets an idea and recruits an army of reptiles, insects, ghosts and robots to battle the crook. Tails is later commended for his actions.
Knuckles the Echidna
Vichama Is Coming Home is a 3-part story written by Ed Reynolds and drawn and lettered by Matthew Allen Smith. The Waterfall Forest Zone is the latest Zone to feel the effects of Vichama's return. Knuckles and Tikal ride a Guardian Robot back to the Floating Island to find that Vichama's Temple has risen. Inside, Knuckles believes he will get the answers to where his missing race is.
Features
Megadroid kicks off the Control Zone, revealing he ticked off the Humes for playing games and not working. There are introductions for this issue's strips and features, plus a reminder to vote for STC-O in the Eagle Awards. The Data Zone has details on Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, The Family, Oscura, Bleed, Knuckles, Tikal and Vichama]]. The 'story so far' is that "for years, the evil Doctor Robotnik ruled Planet Mobius. Eventually, Sonic and his Freedom Fighter gang defeated Robotnik and freed the planet. Now they fight to keep it safe from whatever might threaten it- which now appears to be giant blue whales?!".
Pin-ups this issue include the four variant covers (Mike Corker), a scene from Robotnik Forever! (Rich Morgan) and a solo Sonic poster (Adamis). An exclusive "Archive Zone" presents the script for "O'Keanos", a scrapped story from an anonymous writer.
