Sonic the Hedgehog

Day of the Death Egg is a complete story written by Nigel Kitching, drawn by Richard Elson and lettered by Ellie de Ville. After months of repairs, the Death Egg is finally ready to launch and spread despair across the Emerald Hill Zone. Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails are busy fending off Badniks but soon are distracted by Doctor Robotnik's new threat. Tails is murdered and the entire Zone is wiped out, but all is not what it seems...

Streets of Rage

The Only Game in Town is a 6-part story written by Kitching, with art by Peter Richardson and lettering from Tom Frame. It looks like it's all over for Axel Stone and things get worse for the rest of the gang when Mr X turns up. After being ordered to die, Blaze Fielding places a bet on her survival. Fortunately, she knows that Axel is alive and on the case with the Battle Wagon. Whether or not they make it the other side of East River is another matter.

Sonic's World

Enter the Cybernik is a 3-part story and sees the creation of Shortfuse the Cybernik. Written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Roberto Corona, coloured by John M Burns and lettered by Steve Potter, the action begins with Shorty the Squirrel starting another argument. Things are dispelled when a Trooper attack lands in the Zone, aiming to take all the citizens to a Badnik Processing Plant. Shorty stows aboard and attempts to sabotage the Badnik machinery but results in becoming the first Cybernik, a completely indestructible Badnik.

Marko's Magic Football

Marko's Magic Football is a 6-part story set in North Sterlington, provided by the team of Stringer, Gary Andrews and Potter. Marko has lost his magic football and toys belonging to Colonel Brown are trying to kill him. Fortunately, a stray shot gets him his friend back and Marko continues to find a way to dispose of the green sludge. Unfortunately, he has to contend with a group of welders and the Colonel himself.

Features

The Control Zone, hosted by Megadroid, introduces Boomers to the Valentine's issue, with details of the comic's strips and features. There's also a mention for next issue's free gift and the runners-up from the Sonic the Summer Special competition, the unlucky losers receiving either a Sonic Duel, a Sonic Flexi Friend or a Sonic Water Wizard. The Sega Charts are identical to last issue with regards to the leaders; FIFA Soccer '95, Rebel Assault, Jungle Book and The Lion King still top their respective charts.

This issue's Review Zone sees three entries from David Gibbon and Nick Protz. Football platformer Hurricanes received a lowly 60% from Protz, although Micro Machines 2 gained 94% and Ernie Els' Golf for the Game Gear received 90%.

The theme for this week's Graphic Zone was Valentine's Day with Sonic, Tails and even Megadroid finding their ideal women. Owners of published pictures won a Sonic 2 Badge. The Q Zone was a Q&A Special, with Gibbon providing answers to questions about The Lost Vikings, Desert Strike, Xenon 2, Sonic 1 and Sonic & Knuckles.

Finally, Speedlines saw Megadroid act as a matchmaker for Amy Rose and Knuckles the Echidna, a potential girlfriend for Tails called "Fur" and another Boomer has a crush for Knuckles. Along with romance-themed pictures, all Speedlines entries received a Tomy Sonic the Hedgehog Water Fun Game.
