The Family is a criminal organization of insects from the Special Zone under the leadership of the spider Don Long Legs. Though originally from the Special Zone, The Family was tipped off by Grimer about the Syndicate destroying the Special Zone as a plot to make Sonic's world plagued by mob activity. The Family migrated over to Mobius and began plotting against Freedom Fighters with various schemes. Max Gamble began working for Don Long-Legs, thus giving the Family a base at the Casino Night Zone. They also made Big the Cat the chef of their restaurant, Buddy's Bistro after seeing his abilities.
The Family are currently making money by charging Zone Leaders extortionate amounts of money in return for protection from Doctor Robotnik's Badnik invasions. One of the most co-operative Zones in the venture is the Seaside Hill Zone, which was saved from a particularly large attack.
