Appearance
Metal Tails is a robot built in Tails' image. He has a mostly metallic yellow body, the inside of his ears, the part of his mouth and his belly are a metallic gray white, as are part of his shoes, his arms, his legs and his fingers. He has a red light on his head, and circular red glowing eyes on a black background. The second part of his shoes like part of his two rear reactors are metallic red.

In a recent adventure before traveling to the Northstar Islands, Tails would ask Eggman why he got Tails Doll rather than a "Metal Tails". Eggman would take that comment into consideration creating the robot.

Metal Tails is an unlockable design in the Battle Mode of Sonic Superstars. He doesn't have any effect on the gameplay but he is modeled after Tails. He appears as the boss of Cyber Station Zone if the player currently has his parts selected as their battle bot.

Compared to Dr. Eggman's other robot doppelgangers, such as Metal Sonic or the Shadow Androids, which all possess minds of their own, Metal Tails is seemingly emotionless, serving only as a henchman to his creator. As a model of the Metal Fighters, Metal Tails seems to carry out commands by his creator without question. If the player currently has his parts selected as their battle bot when entering Cyber Station Zone, Metal Tails will appear from a Capsule and attack Sonic and his friends or Trip, showing a seemingly aggressive side.
In the Sonic Superstars Start Book, Metal Tails is slightly elaborated on and possesses the ability to speak.
