This level has a powerful giant press in the background that, every few seconds, the piston will slam down causing things (including players) on the ground to fly up into the air. Lights on the giant press and scattered throughout the level count up to the next slam. It is possible for players to dodge this by getting airborne by jumping, flying or standing on certain airborne platforms.
During the main story, the press will slam its piston down at regular intervals; but in Trip's story, the press will increase the pace as the player gets closer to the end of the level.
The player can damage the giant press by entering certain spheres and destroying the core in the center of the sphere, however the press will not be destroyed until the mini-boss is defeated.
Act 2
This level involves the Tick-Tock Drone pursuing the player(s) at all times, operating on a timer. This requires the players to press buttons scattered throughout the level before the timer on the drone reaches 0. Failure to do so will set the level on fire and result in an instant loss.
If Knuckles is not already active as a player character, he can be seen climbing a wall in the background early into Act 1's lower route.
During Act 2:
The ruins of the gigantic press from Act 1 can be seen in the background during the first half of the Act.
A hidden room within the first half of the Act displays a crude drawing of Eggman's[1]. The art depicts the doctor triumphantly standing over (in-order, from left to right) Knuckles, Sonic, Tails and Amy.
