Black Onyx

Not to be confused with Black onyx.

The Black Onyx^[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a dark purple gemstone in Sonic Superstars that once sealed the Black Dragon in the past and was reused in the present day to seal back the beast once more during the Northstar Islands incident. It was guarded by numerous sungazers long ago, with Trip the Sungazer being the current guardian of the gemstone.^[1]

Description

Appearance

The Black Onyx is a large oval-shaped dark purple gemstone with light purple markings on it from the back and the front; three lozenges on the top, two triangles at the middle, and a single lozenge on the bottom.

Powers and traits

The Black Onyx has the ability to seal away the Black Dragon.

History

Past

Not much is known about the Black Onyx. According to the mural located in Northstar Islands, as well as Trip herself, her ancestors guarded the gemstone with the power of the Chaos Emeralds,^[1] presumably sealing away the Black Dragon.

Sonic Superstars

In present day, the Black Dragon somehow escaped from the Black Onyx to cause havoc once more in the Northstar Islands. However, the beast was eventually defeated by Sonic in his Super State, as Trip used the Black Onyx to seal away the Black Dragon like before.

Trivia

• The Black Onyx is hidden within the Speed Jungle portion of the hub world. It is possible for the player to not have notice it until the Last Story.
