Ariem[5] (アリエム Ariemu?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is an anthropomorphic horned sheep-like being who guards the Reverie[4] and resides in Reverie Haven. Ariem was commanded by her mysterious "creators" to guard the Reverie, and only allow people she thinks are noble and good-intentioned to use its powers.

Appearance
Ariem is an anthropomorphic sheep-like being with features similar to that of a ram, with Jordy blue woolly fur on her head for hair, which is kept in a ponytail by a mulberry hair tie, and magenta eyes. She possesses one eyelash on each eye, wheat-curved horns on her head, long-flopped ears with pink canals, and a small purple nose. She also has white fur around her muzzle and between her eyes, a yellow moon crescent on her forehead, and wears bright lavender eyeshadow. Her hands are disconnected from her body and the ends of her legs come to a point with no visible feet.
For attire, Ariem wears a teal and mulberry cloak with yellow and white trims and a galaxy-like starry interior, and white gloves with gold bracelets for cuffs.
History
Sonic Dream Team
In Sonic Dream Team, Sonic first encounters Ariem after being put to sleep by Dr. Eggman along with Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, Cream, and Amy. Ariem would explain to Sonic and friends that they need to collect Dream Orb's to help her restore her power and save Sonic's friends. Later Ariem would be attacked by the Guardian Hunter while Knuckles went on and fought it, Ariem's powers would be drained, and the heroes reconnected her to the Dream Core to restore her power. She removes Eggman from the Dreamscape and wakes Sonic and his friends up as well. Tails mentions how he managed to extend the dormancy protocol by a tad bit. Later on, Tails would allow Cream to hang out with Ariem with the two becoming best friends.
Personality
Ariem has a strict sense of duty due to being born with a mission, and has a strong moral sense.[6] Despite that, she is calm, collected, and pure, especially around friends, but in dangerous situations, she is ready to help those in need. When Cream and Cheese were captured by Dr. Eggman, she made him fall asleep and gave Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Rouge time to arrive to Eggman's base. She also helped the heroes during their adventure in the dream, guiding them throughout the Dreamscape and informing them of its properties.
Ariem is also hard to fool, as she saw through Eggman's attempts to trick her into making his dreams a reality through Cream's mind.
Powers and abilities
Describing herself as a "Dreamweaver", Ariem has the ability to Dreamweave; an ability which can be used with a Dream Orb. She can trap people in their own Dreamscape. She can trigger the Dormancy Protocol, which makes the Reverie shut down and not make dreams become reality. This is also supposed to make people and creatures unable to enter it, but Tails has found a way to let creatures enter it during this protocol, albeit for a limited amount of time.

Sonic the Hedgehog
Ariem and Sonic begin with a loose interaction after the latter gets sent into the Dream world. As the game progresses, they become close friends who work together to stop Dr. Eggman.
Cream the Rabbit
Ariem and Cream have a mother-and-daughter-like bond. At the beginning, Ariem was furious of Eggman for putting Cream and Cheese in danger so she can fulfill his dreams through Cream's mind. At the end of their adventure in the Dreamscape, Tails managed to extend the Dormancy Protocol allowing Cream to hang out with Ariem whenever she pleases.
Miles "Tails" Prower
Ariem deeply admires and respects how smart Tails is. She even mentions how Tails grasped the situation extremely well.
Knuckles the Echidna
Once Ariem used her power to free Knuckles, Ariem admires Knuckles not only being a guardian like her but his confidence to help. Ariem would even talk to Rouge about Knuckles being a "Handsome one."

- Ariem is named after the first zodiac sign, Aries, as well as REM sleep, the stage in which dreams occur.
- Ariem is the first original character in the main series that was created for a story-based mobile game.
- Interestingly, she is one of the few animal-like characters in the series that doesn't have any sort of huge footwear in their design.
