As their name suggests, the Grapes Mech is based on a grape bunch, with these Badniks simply resembling spheres with large eyes, as well a purplish and pinkish color scheme. In addition, the Grapes Mechs are connected to a dark gray suction cup that they use to cling onto the ceiling of any surface. Usually, the Grapes Mechs are also covered in several spiked balls that resemble grapes, making them heavily resemble a bunch of grapes.
Overview
In Sonic Superstars, the Grapes Mechs appear exclusively in Lagoon City Zone Act Amy. In gameplay, the Grapes Mechs are stationary Badniks that are found clinging onto various ceilings throughout the zone. When the player approaches a Grapes Mech, the Badnik will begin to shake off a couple of the "grapes" attached to their body in an attempt for them to harm the player. The Grapes Mech will continue to repeat their attack pattern until they run out of "grapes," at which point they will become completely defenseless and remain stationary until the player leaves the screen. In order to destroy a Grapes Mech, the player must Spin Jump into them when the Badnik completely runs out of their "grapes," as otherwise they will take damage from the "grapes" of the Grapes Mech. Like with most Badniks in the game, the Grapes Mechs will release their Animal and award the player 100 points upon destruction.
Powers and abilities
Due to the suction cup attached to their bodies, the Grapes Mechs can hang from the ceiling of any surface in order to use their "grapes" as spiked ball weapons by shaking them off in an attempt for them to harm their foes.
Weaknesses
After the Grapes Mech shakes off all of their "grapes," they become completely defenseless, making them susceptible to any attacks from their foes.
Trivia
Ironically, despite having "mech" in their name, the Grapes Mechs are not actually mechs but rather autonomous robots like all other Badniks.
