Fernando ▶️ is a Front Line Champion in Paladins, added on November 17th, 2015.
Lore
This is Fernando's official bio currently found in his champion page in-game.
Though not of noble birth, and never having been formally trained, Fernando assumed the mantle of knighthood when the knight he served met an untimely fate. In his moment of rash courage, he picked up the weapons of said knight — which he learned were infused with Pyre energy. They deemed him worthy, and from that moment on, he wandered from one heroic adventure to the next, making a name for himself throughout the Realm.
When the Magistrate called on all loyal houses to join them in their efforts against the Resistance, he heeded their summons with pride. If his valor in combat and charming confidence can keep his allies from discovering his closely-guarded secret, he might just live to become the champion he knows he can be.
This is an unofficial version of Fernando's bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding him. Sources can be found here.
When the knight he served met his untimely fate, Fernando took up the identity and personality of his former master, his lack of formal training and not being of noble birth being irrelevant to him. From there, Fernando wandered from one adventure to the next, making a name for himself throughout the Realm. When the Magistrate called on all loyal houses to assist them in their battle against the Resistance, Fernando answered the call with pride. So long as he can keep his secret safe, he may end up becoming the champion he believes he can be.
Following the defeat of Yagorath, with Karne entrusting House Aico leadership of the Magistrate, Fernando remained with the group.
This was Fernando's in-game bio prior to the The Damned Frontier update. It's no longer considered canon.
Though not of noble birth nor having any real combat training, Fernando assumed the mantle of knighthood when the knight he served met an untimely fate. From that moment on, he wandered from one heroic adventure to the next, making a name for himself throughout the Realm. When the Magistrate called on all loyal houses to join their efforts against the Resistance, he heeded their summons with pride.
If his valor in combat and charming confidence can keep his allies from discovering his secret, he might just live to become the champion he knows he can be.
This was Fernando's bio on the official Paladins website in the extremely early days of Paladins.[2] Naturally, it's no longer considered canon
It takes a special kind of man to appoint his own Knighthood, and Fernando is that man. Hailing from the golden cliffs of Sun Spire, Fernando travels to Crosswind Hold to spread word of his fame and glory. If there's a damsel in distress, Fernando is there.
Summary
Fernando is a front-line champion with formidable defenses thanks to his massive health pool and his shield, and his ability to act as a frontline for a multitude of different situations can't be understated. However, he lacks both damage and range, especially without his fireball, and without his dash he's not mobile enough to keep up with escaping enemies or those at range, limiting how much pressure he can provide.
Skills
Fernando's Primary fire is his Flame Lance, which runs on a resource rather than standard Ammo, and deals a steady stream of damage that applies a lingering burn that damages enemies over time.
Chivalry is his secondary fire; a large shield that recharges over time when not fired at, perfect for keeping allies and himself safe.
His primary ability, Fireball, shoots a massive piercing projectile, and serves as Fernando's source of burst damage, hitting enemies at much farther ranges than his primary can reach.
His movement ability is Charge, which allows him to quickly run forward through enemies, dealing damage to them, and allowing a multitude of uses.
His ultimate ability is Immortal, which grants him and his allies damage invulnerability to a portion of their health, perfect for clutch rescues and stalling.
Talents and Cards
Fernando's talents provide him with the following:
- Aegis grants Chivalry a massive increase in health, recharge speed, and faster bring-up time after being destroyed.
- Scorch grants Fernando's Fireball a shorter cooldown, higher damage, and further increase in that damage as it hits more enemies.
- With Formidable, Charge becomes two separate charges, does more damage, and provides crowd control immunity to Fernando, in exchange for an increased cooldown.
Fernando's cards mostly focus on reducing his cooldowns, providing movement speed boosts, and providing/boosting self-healing.

Trivia
Lore
- Fernando was revealed as being gay; however, this was not widely accepted due to Fernando acting straight and constantly hitting on female characters in his voice pack.[3]
- It's been implied Fernando is originally from a village.[6]
- While this post presents Fernando as being 26 years old, it's difficult to determine if this is intended to be his canon age, or a random number was chosen just for the post, as the nature of the post is quite obviously not serious. The presented age for Makoa would seem to suggest the latter due to it conflicting with previously mentioned information regarding his age, which is explained in his lore trivia section for those interested.
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Fernando would be around 5'9 or 179cm tall.
- The subtle semantics of wording in the official lore reveals that Fernando is his real first name, even though he took the occupation of the knight he served.
- If "Though not of noble birth, and never having been formally trained, Fernando assumed the mantle of knighthood when the knight he served met an untimely fate" read something like "Though not of noble birth, and never having been formally trained, the hero known to all as Fernando assumed the mantle of knighthood when the knight he served met an untimely fate", then the mystery around his real name would be a mystery. However, the way his lore is worded currently leaves no ambiguity.
