Doyoung (Korean: 도영; Japanese: ドヨン) is a South Korean singer and actor under SM Entertainment. He is a member of the boy group NCT and its sub-units NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT DOJAEJUNG.

He made his solo debut on April 22, 2024 with the full-length album Youth.

Career

2013–2015: Pre-debut

He won first place at the Gyeonggi Youth Arts Festival in 2013.^[2] In 2013, he was cast into SM Entertainment. On January 15, 2015, he was introduced as a member of the pre-debut trainee team SMROOKIES.^[3] From January 21 to July 1, 2015, him and Jaehyun were the new MCs on MBC Music's Show Champion.^[4] In December 2015, he performed "Beauty and the Beast" in Disney Channel Korea's The Mickey Mouse Club with SM Rookies member Koeun.^[5]

2016–2017: Debut with NCT U and NCT 127, "Cool", Inkigayo, "Stay in My Life", "Star Blossom"

In April 2016, he officially debuted as a member of NCT, in the unit NCT U, with the single "The 7th Sense", & "Without You".

He collaborated with Key of SHINee to release the song "Cool" for the OCN drama Squad 38 in July.

On January 6, 2017, he debuted as a member of the 2nd unit, NCT 127, with their mini album NCT 127 Limitless.

On February 5, he joined Inkigayo as a host alongside Jinyoung of GOT7 and Jisoo of BLACKPINK and they were called 'Jinjido' after the first letter of the three names.

Along with Taeil and Taeyong, he released "Stay in My Life" for School 2017.

In October, he collaborated with Sejeong of gugudan on the song "Star Blossom".

2018: NCT 2018, "Hard for Me"

On March 14, 2018, he took part in NCT's first studio album, NCT 2018 Empathy, and appeared in the "Black On Black" music video as part of NCT 2018.

In June, he released a re-recorded version of "Hard for Me", originally by Cheeze, for the television series Rich Man.

2019-2021: "Don't Say Goodbye", acting debut, musical theater debut, "Like a Star"

Doyoung collaborated with Rocoberry on the track "Don't Say Goodbye". It was released in March of 2019.

In March of 2021, Doyoung made his acting debut in the series Midnight Cafe 3: The Curious Stalker as Son Ji-woo. On April 9, 2021, it was announced that Doyoung would be making his musical theater debut as Count Axel von Fersen in Marie Antoinette.^[6]

On June 18, 2021, Doyoung passed Level 2 of the 53rd Korean History Proficiency Test .

On October 1, 2021, Doyoung released "Like a Star" for the drama Yumi's Cells.

2022-2023: Dear X Who Doesn't Love Me, NCT DoJaeJung, "Beautiful Day", "Here with Me"

In 2022, Doyoung played the role of Jeong Si-ho in the web series Dear X Who Doesn't Love Me.

On April 17, 2023, Doyoung, along with Jaehyun and Jungwoo, debuted as NCT DOJAEJUNG with the mini album Perfume.

On May 23 and July 23, 2023, Doyoung released "Beautiful Day" and "Here with Me" for the shows Dr. Romantic and See You in My 19th Life, respectively.

2024: Solo debut with Youth, "17", "The Story"

On February 8, SM Entertaiment revealed that Doyoung will be making his solo debut in the second half of the year.^[7] On March 11, Sports Chosun reported that Doyoung will be debuting in April.^[8] On April 4, it was announced that Doyoung will release his debut full-length album Youth on April 22.^[9]

On April 17, SM Entertainment announced Doyoung's first solo concert, Dear Youth,, to commemorate his debut. The concert started on May 25 at Kyunghee University Grand Peace Palace in Seoul.^[10]

On July 31, SM Entertainment announced that Doyoung will be releasing the digital single "17" on August 6, as part of the 'essential; With Artist' project.^[11]

On September 10, SM Entertainment announced Doyoung's encore concert in Seoul titled 'Dearest Youth,' for three consecutive days (November 1-3) at the Olympic Park Handball Stadium.

On September 25, SM Entertainment announced that Doyoung will release a remake of Jung Joonil's "First Love" on October 1 as part of the 'First Love Project'.^[12]

On October 28, SM Entertainment announced the digital single "The Story", scheduled for November 6.^[13]

On November 22, for the director’s cut of the drama 'Sorry, I Love You 2024,' as a part of Wavve's New Classic Project Part 2, Doyoung will release a remake of Park Hyoshin's ''Snow Flower''.^[14]

2025: Upcoming release, solo concert

On February 10, SM Entertaiment revealed that Doyoung will be releasing his second full-length album in the second quarter of the year.^[15] On April 18, it was announced that Doyoung will release his second full-length album on June 9.^[16] That same day, it was also revealed that Doyoung will held his second concert Doors, on June 14 and June 15 in South Korea.^[17]
