Xiumin (시우민) is a South Korean singer and actor under INB 100. He is a member of the boy group EXO and their sub-units EXO-M and EXO-CBX.
He made his solo debut on September 26, 2022 with the mini album Brand New.
Career
2012: Debut with EXO
He debuted as a member of EXO and its sub-unit EXO-M on April 9, 2012 with the group's first mini album Mama.
2016: EXO-CBX
On October 31, 2016, Xiumin debuted as a member of the group's sub-unit EXO-CBX with the mini album Hey Mama!.
2022: Solo debut
On August 18, 2022, SM Entertainment confirmed that Xiumin will release his first solo album in September.[2] On September 5, it was revealed that Xiumin would make his solo debut with his first mini album, Brand New, on September 26.[3]
2023: "Our Spring : Who?", lawsuit against SM Entertainment
On April 5, a teaser video was posted which revealed that Xiumin and Eunha will be releasing a collaboration single, "Our Spring : Who?", on April 9.[4]
On June 1, Xiumin, alongside Baekhyun and Chen, announced through their legal representative and lawyer Lee Jae Hak from law firm LIN, that they have taken legal action against SM Entertainment, citing unreasonable long-term contracts and non-transparency regarding settlement reports. They added that the termination of their existing exclusive contracts is effective as of this day.[5] SM Entertainment released a statement refuting their claims.[6] On June 19, SM Entertainment stated that they partially revised the contract of the three artists, who will remain in the company and continue to be active in EXO activities.[7]
2024: Agency changes
On January 7, 2024, it was announced that Xiumin, along with bandmates Chen and Baekhyun, would be continuing their solo activities, as well as EXO-CBX activities, under Baekhyun's newly-established agency INB 100. However, the three members will remain as part of EXO.[8]
2025: Interview X
On February 4, 2025, it was reported that Xiumin is currently preparing for a March comeback.[9] INB100 later confirmed the report.[10] On February 14, 2025, Xiumin announced his second mini album, Interview X, scheduled for March 10.[11]
Personal life
Military service
On May 7, 2019, Xiumin enlisted in the military as an active duty soldier.[12] On November 23, 2020, SM Entertainment stated that Xiumin is in his final leave and will be discharged on December 6 without returning to the base.[13] He was officially discharged on the same day.[14]
