First Names is the fifty-third chapter of Tomohito Oda's Komi Can't Communicate.
Summary
Throughout the school day, Tadano (with an unidentified speck on his face that Komi dreamt about) asks Najimi Osana various things regarding the student council, on a first name basis (Najimi, not Osana). Tadano noticed Komi watching them, and asks if something was the matter. She asks Tadano to call her by her first name Shouko, as he uses Najimi's first name as they are friends, and she and Tadano are friends too.
Tadano reacts embarrassedly, stammering that he can't as Komi is a girl and it would be too weird/awkward. Najimi jokingly asks if Tadano is suggesting that they are not a girl, as Tadano uses their name, then confidently grabs Komi's shoulder, and, wearing a handsome expression, boldly declares Komi's name: Shouko. Komi is surprised, but likes the feeling of her name being spoken. Najimi enthusiastically encourages Tadano to say her name too, which he eventually relents, murmuring out the first half, "Sho", but giving up with "Komi". Najimi is unimpressed.
Unexpectedly, Najimi tells Komi to say Tadano's first name, which surprises them both. Najimi explains that if Komi wants Tadano to use her first name, then she has to use his as well, which they concede to the logic of. Najimi reminds Komi that Tadano's first name is Hitohito, which he silently hoped Komi didn't forget about. Komi tries writing the name, but needs to say it verbally. After blushing, Komi gives up and suggests for them to continue using last names, which Tadano is relieved at. Najimi is disappointed at them both, but admits that "Hitohito" is a mouthful to pronounce. They quickly inform Tadano that he has a sesame seed on his face, unsurprisingly, as Najimi has no trouble with communicating.
