急に暗い雲が空を覆ってく |
Kyuu ni kurai kumo ga sora wo ootte ku |
Dark clouds suddenly cover the sky |
rain of love… |
rain of love… |
rain of love… |
降り出した雨 渇ききってる |
Furidashita ame kawakikitteru |
The rain that settled in, Translator Notes:「巡り会えた」is a chance meeting, and it also happens to be in potential form,
so “our meeting was something that would not have happened had it not been in fate’s plan – that’s what I believe” is basically the meaning of that whole chunk there. Within me, there are no words to describe it |
Ah こんなにも近くにいても |
Ah konna ni mo chikaku ni ite mo |
Ah, even though you’re so close, Translator Notes: Okay, lemme just, talk about 「ーしまう」This is something that doesn’t really mean a lot on it’s own,
but attach it to the end of a sentence or thought, and then the entire thing becomes unfortunate. “It’s really upsetting that even though you’re right next to me, I feel like we’re mile apart and I hate it.” “I know it’s reckless to keep falling in love with you, because you’re way out of my league (the distance I feel) but I just can’t help it – I don’t have the ability to stop falling in love with you.” And I know that it’s reckless, I understand it in my head, |
この土砂降りの雨に傘なんて |
Kono doshaburi no ame ni kasa nante |
In this downpour of rain, using something like an umbrella Translator Notes: 「思えるほど」-「思える」is the potential form of「思う」, meaning “to think”,
and「ほど」is used for comparison, so “I feel so much that I’m able to think this way”. I never bask in the sunlight ever again Translator Notes: Saying that you’d “give up sunlight” is pretty gutsy,
considering sunlight is essential to survival, hence, it’s a bluff. Just the bravado speaking. But really, “I’d don’t mind if this rain stays a little longer, because it’s representative of my feelings for you.” The rain continues to fall, like it’s forgotten how to stop |
心地良ささえ 感じ始めた |
Kokochi yosa sae kanji hajimeta |
I even began to feel comfortable |
Ah 独り占めしたい思いが |
Ah hitorijime shitai omoi ga |
Ah, if the thought of having you for myself Translator Notes:「罰を受けることさえ」= “even recieving punishment”.
I used “retribution”, since retribution has a more divine connotation? And messing with the weather would probably incur the wrath of the local gods more than anything else. |
雲に溜まる粒に想い馳せて |
Kumo ni tamaru tsubu ni omoi hasete |
My feelings for you gather within the clouds Translator Notes: 「想い馳せて」means something along the lines of “to think of __ (usually far away)”
or “to send my thoughts” or something. So “my thoughts of you gathers as drops in the clouds” + the next line “transforming in the countless falling rain” Transforming into the countless drops of falling rain Translator Notes: 愛してるって 伝えてもっと is technically “I tell you ‘I love you’ more”
and taking in the context of the previous two lines, it’s the rain conveying the love and it’s something that you want to convey more of. Touching your hand, and growing stronger each time it dries Translator Notes:「いたずらに」is literally “vainlessly; uselessly; idly”,
but it seems to be a phrase used for it’s connotation of “something that can’t be helped”? Or at least that’s what it seems like from the example sentence I found that used it. “So the strength of my love is exponentially growing in a manner that I cannot help, nor can I stop anymore in this short amount of time” seems to be the gist of that line. Aaaand that “love” manifests as the downpour of rain, hence why 「勢い」 is directly translated as “force” and why 「加速する」 is likewise directly translated as “accelerating”. Is now one even I can no longer stop, Translator Notes: “At the very least, it seems your dreams are peaceful
and not at all disturbed by this barrage of rain, which I’m glad for.” wrapped in your dreams |
気の済むまで 降った雨はやがて乾いて |
Ki no sumu made futta ame wa yagate kawaite |
Before long, the rain that fell will dry, but until this heat in my chest subsides Translator Notes: “The rain will eventually stop, and it’ll dry,
but as long as I love you, this rain of love will keep returning.” It will once again rise, and in the midst of town, settle down as rain |
この土砂降りの雨に傘なんて |
Kono doshaburi no ame ni kasa nante |
