Urid, also known as the Arrow of the Sun[1], is a character in the Horizon Zero Dawn comic series, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and a mentioned character in Horizon Forbidden West. He is the older brother of Ryas, the protagonist of Horizon Call of the Mountain.[1]
History
The son of a Kestrel, Urid and his brother Ryas were trained at an early age as fighters and climbers. Eventually, he would become one of Sun-King Jiran's bodyguards and was known for being the best climber in the Sundom.[2]
During the Red Raids, he, like many other Carja, grew disgusted at Jiran's actions. This came to a turning point when Jiran ordered Kadaman, the Crown Prince, executed for demanding an end to the killing. Later, when news spread of Avad returning to Meridian with an army, Urid was among the Carja that defected and joined Avad's forces.
Liberation of Meridian
During the Liberation of Meridian, Urid led a contingent of troops on a dangerous climb up the sheer cliffs of the mesa below the Palace of the Sun. Later during the battle, he and his group came to the aid of Avad and Ersa's party after they were surrounded by Kestrels, finishing off the Kestrels with a volley of arrows.[2]
For his deeds during the Liberation, Urid was awarded a medal by Avad and given the title "Arrow of the Sun."
