The PPSh-41 is a submachine gun featured in all the World War II-based Call of Duty games that have a Soviet campaign, as well as many games of the Black Ops series, and Call of Duty: WWII, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Mobile.

Campaign
The PPSh is a submachine gun featured in the Soviet campaign. It has a very high magazine capacity, decent power, and only medium recoil. It takes just two bullets to kill one enemy in singleplayer, but its fairly high rate of fire when fired automatically makes it more effective against grouped targets, rather than individual ones. Ammunition is relatively scarce in the early levels of the Soviet campaign, when MP40s are more readily available. In Call of Duty: United Offensive, it is much less effective, as it takes four shots to kill one enemy, twice as many as before, but otherwise identical and still a versatile weapon for close quarters and moderately long distances.
The gun has a semi-automatic fire mode, however as it doesn't affect hipfire accuracy and simply impedes players in CQC, this mode should best be avoided.
Multiplayer
The PPSh is used by the Soviets during multiplayer. Because they do not have a support gun capable of sustained medium-ranged fire, the PPSh's 71 round drum is used to give them an advantage in close range combat. In the first game, where there is no damage dropoff, the gun can be used competently at medium close ranges, killing in two to four shots. In UO, however, where the spread has been increased and damage falloff is present, it takes three to seven hits to kill. The recoil is the second greatest of the submachine guns, only to the MP-40, consisting of a slight upward pull and random horizontal shaking.

In Call of Duty: Finest Hour, the PPSH is an effective weapon with a high recoil and low damage. It is difficult to see while using this weapon because of the muzzle flash, but its huge magazine capacity and high rate of fire make up for this deficiency. Controlling fire is a good tactic, since ammo will be quickly eaten up if fired automatically. It can first be used in the level "The Flag Must Fall."

Call of Duty 2
Campaign
In the campaign, the PPSh-41 is a common Soviet weapon. It can still do massive damage at close range, but its higher recoil makes it less effective at maximum range than the first game. Ammunition is more readily available from the start than its predecessor, as most soldiers use this weapon. However, the player can no longer swap between automatic and semi-automatic firing modes from this game onwards (the same goes to all other machine-guns and automatic rifles), though this can be largely negated if the fire button is lightly tapped to fire in a burst mode. Though many rounds can be carried in reserve, the PPSh-41 eats up ammo very quickly, and ammunition is not always easily obtained, as the only way to get it is for a PPSh-41-wielding friendly to die, or obtain from the wooden boxes in few occasions.
Multiplayer
In multiplayer, this weapon is usually only effective from close to moderately long ranges. It retains the high recoil from the campaign, but is now capable of killing three to five hits at any range. The recoil pattern is more predictable in this installment, a slight upward push rather than random shaking, making it easier to control. It has a high magazine capacity, and provided that every bullet hits, and no bullet is wasted, one user can kill 14 enemies at range, or 23 in close quarters with one magazine.

The PPSh-41 makes a brief appearance in the mission "All Ghillied Up". When the player gets to the church, they can see a WW2 Memorial statue of two men holding the PPSh-41.
Multiplayer
In the multiplayer map Bloc, a giant statue of a World War II-era Soviet soldier is holding a golden PPSh-41. In Domination, the B flag is found coming directly out of the barrel.

Campaign
The PPSh-41 appears in the Soviet Campaign of Call of Duty: World at War. In the earlier levels, very few can be found, although the player can pick up ammo from fallen comrades. Later on in the campaign it becomes much more common, as Soviet soldiers start using the PPSh-41 instead of the Mosin-Nagant, ammo is much easier to find. This makes the PPSh-41 a very useful weapon during the later stages of the campaign. Because the PPSh-41 has such low recoil, it has good accuracy when hip firing, in close quarters this can be the difference between life and death as ADS takes precious time that could be used to fire up to seven bullets at an enemy. This is Viktor Reznov's weapon of choice in World at War. The PPSh-41 can only be found with a round drum.
Multiplayer
The PPSh-41 is unlocked at Level 53.
At any range before nineteen meters, the PPSh-41 will deal 22 damage, needing five shots to kill, or four shots, if two bullets are headshots. The PPSh-41 will decrease in damage linearly until 25 meters. At any range past 25 meters, the PPSh-41 will deal fourteen damage per bullet, needing eight shots to kill, or seven shots if one of those seven is a headshot. The PPSh-41 can only get a one shot kill in Hardcore on a headshot, and could take up to three shots to kill at range in Hardcore. The PPSh-41 has low penetration power.
The PPSh-41's damage per bullet improves when using Stopping Power. At any range shorter than nineteen meters, the PPSh-41 will deal thirty damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill, or three shots if one is a headshot. Damage decreases linearly until 25 meters. At any range past 25 meters, the PPSh-41 will deal nineteen damage, requiring six shots to kill, or five shots, if one is a headshot. Stopping Power allows the PPsh-41 to get a one shot kill to the body in Hardcore, and the PPSh-41 will never need more than two shots to kill in Hardcore.
The PPSh-41 is fully automatic, firing at a rate of 1250 RPM. Using Double Tap on the PPSh-41 increases this rate of fire to 1666 RPM.
The PPSh-41 has recoil values of 44 to the left, 51 to the right, 44 upwards, and 22 downards. The PPSh-41 has a centerspeed value of 1255.
The PPSh-41 allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 40% of the base movement speed. The PPSh-41 allows users to aim down the sights in 200 milliseconds, and the PPSh-41's hip-fire spread is tight. The PPSh-41's reload speeds are situation and attachment dependent. By default, the PPSh-41's reload animation is 2.3 seconds long, or 2.8 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel the PPSh-41 after 1.9 seconds, or 1.7 seconds if the magazine is empty. If using the Round Drum, the PPSh-41's reload speeds slow down. The PPSh-41's reload animation is 2.5 seconds long for a drum, or 4.1 seconds long if the drum is empty. On a partial reload, the reload cancel speed is 2.15 seconds long, but if the drum is empty, the reload cancel speed is 1.7 seconds long.
The PPSh-41 has a default magazine capacity of 35 rounds. The PPSh-41 has a default starting ammo loadout of 105 rounds.
Unlike other SMGs, the PPSh-41 cannot equip a Suppressor/Flash Hider. After completing the "Marksman: I" challenge, the PPSh-41 can use the Aperture Sight. After completing the "Marksman: II" challenge, the PPSh-41 can use the Round Drum. These attachments both work as expected on the PPSh-41.
Weapon Attachments
Zombies
The PPSh-41 is first available in Verrückt and appears in the two later maps as well. It is the only SMG which cannot be bought off the wall and is also the only SMG that appears with its drum mag in Zombies. It is quite effective against Zombies and Hellhounds alike, even at higher levels. Because of its very high rate of fire and mediocre damage per round, it is the perfect weapon for scoring lots of points. The only problem is the high ammo consumption; the PPSh-41 can run dry after only a single round if not used wisely. It is not advised to use this weapon with Double Tap Root Beer, as the gun already has the highest rate of fire in the game. This will burn up the ammo quickly, so the player may find themselves with no ammo for it in the middle of a round.
If upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch Machine in Der Riese, the gun is entitled "The Reaper" and has a magazine size of 115, a reference to Element 115, and rivalling that of a machine gun. It also has an increased rate of fire from 1250 to 1578 RPM, 1973 RPM if combined with Double Tap Root Beer. It has a vast increase in damage, doing more damage than the MG42 and the Browning M1919 even if both are upgraded. The high rate of fire burns through ammo very quickly, though helped by its massive ammo capacity; the third largest in the mode behind only the MG42 and Browning M1919.

Call of Duty: World at War (DS)
The PPSh-41 appears in Call of Duty: World at War (Nintendo DS) as one of the five submachine guns available in game. The DS version has a much lower rate of fire and higher damage compared to the PPSh-41 on the console versions. It has high recoil, slightly more than the Thompson.
The high capacity of the mag allows this weapon to be used in a light machine gun fashion style of play, just without the inconvenience of being slowed down.
Campaign
In singleplayer, the PPSh-41 is a starting weapon in all missions in the Soviet campaign, with the exception of vehicle levels. It has a large ammunition capacity (71 rounds, like the console versions), low rate of fire, and high damage per bullet. Overall it is an excellent weapon with only one flaw, its high recoil, which can be fixed by burst firing or using it like a semi-auto gun, since it is capable of killing an enemy in two to three shots at any range, or simply pointing the stylus downwards, to counter the recoil.
Multiplayer
In multiplayer, the PPSh-41 is one of the most common weapons on multiplayer for the Allied faction. Just like in single player, the PPSh-41 has a high damage per bullet, a manageable rate of fire, and a large 71 round drum mag. But the recoil is just as high as in single player, so it is recommended to burst fire or use it like it was semi-automatic at medium to long ranges. However, since the recoil only pushes the gun upwards, the recoil can be countered by aiming downwards when going full auto. It's also true that if aiming at the enemy at the stomach firing two shots will pull the gun upwards making the third shot land on the head which will most likely result in a kill.

Call of Duty: Black Ops
The PPSh-41 appears in the mission "Project Nova" as the PPSH, being used by Reznov, Dimitri Petrenko and other Soviet soldiers. The gun still uses animations recycled from Call of Duty: World at War and retains the same characteristics. "Project Nova" is the only time the PPSH is seen in the game.
Unlike in other games' singleplayer modes, the PPSH has a 35-round box magazine, similar to the version first unlocked in World at War multiplayer. Due to the fact most of the Russian soldiers use the PPSH, ammo is incredibly common and easy to find.

Call of Duty: Black Ops (DS)
The PPSh-41 appears in the DS version of Black Ops as one of the SMG's featured in game. It has many similarities with the World at War counterpart, like the 71 round magazine with 284 spare rounds, the general appearance and (good) ironsights, but opposed to the precedent version sports a very high rate of fire, and low recoil. The PPSh-41s muzzle flash obstructs the sights even though it can be seen through, and it has low damage. While the silencer removes muzzle flash, part of the foresight is removed as well, to prevent obstruction. this however doesn't prevent accuracy, and makes the ironsights even a little more clear.
Campaign
The PPSh-41 is used by various enemies, most commonly the Spetsnaz, NVA, and Tropas.
Zombies
The PPSh-41 can be obtained from the Mystery Box (950 points per use) or off the wall in the third room of any map for 5000 points. It has low recoil, a high rate of fire, low damage, and a high capacity, which can make it a blessing in CQB, especially since most of the maps are CQB based. Despite these stats, its high rate of fire can burn through ammo incredibly quickly, which can leave the player defenseless in later rounds. The only remedy to this is to buy ammo off the wall, which makes this weapon another good choice to use, as none of the other SMGs have the ability to do this.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

The PPSh-41 makes its return in Call of Duty Black Ops III. It was first introduced in the map Gorod Krovi, which was released on July 12, 2016 for the Zombies mode, where it comes with a drum magazine by default. It was then introduced into multiplayer on February 7, 2017, only available through the Black Market, with a simplified name without the number 41. It uses an updated version of the Call of Duty 2 model.
Multiplayer
The PPSh was added to the multiplayer on February 7th, 2017. The PPSh comes with a 35 round magazine by default, with the 71 round drum being added with the Extended Mags attachment. Unlike its zombies counterpart, The PPSh is held by the handguard instead of the magazine.
Zombies
The PPSh is featured in the Zombies map Gorod Krovi and the remastered versions of Verrückt and Shi No Numa. It has a 71-round magazine, and is available from the Mystery Box. It was also previously seen on The Giant's poster, being wielded by Nikolai Belinski. Damage output seems to be similar, if not identical, to its Call of Duty: World at War counterpart. In an interview, Jason Blundell stated that he copied and pasted the damage stats from Call of Duty: World at War. It seems as if recoil was slightly decreased. When paired with Double Tap Root Beer 2.0, the PPSh-41 is devastating and is arguably one of the highest damaging weapons when this is also paired with the upgraded version.
When Pack-a-Punched, it becomes The Grim Reaper and retains many characteristics from its Pack-a-Punched counterpart of Call of Duty: World at War, including the 115-round magazine, though reserve ammo is slightly reduced from 700 to 690 rounds (thus becoming more appropriate since 690 is divisible by 115). It also has the ability to be re-Pack-a-Punched to gain alternate ammo types which makes it far more useful than the original variant.

Campaign
The PPSh-41 is used by Wehrmacht forces throughout the campaign, appearing in the missions D-Day, Collateral Damage, Battle of the Bulge and The Rhine.
Multiplayer
Up close, the PPSh-41 is devastating and boasts one of the fastest times-to-kill of any automatic weapon in the game. Although the RPM is significantly lower than in previous games, it is still higher than most of the SMGs in the game and is still able to score consistent four-hit-kills at close range and five-hit-kills at medium range up until 25 meters which matches most of the SMGs in the game, matching all other SMGs. Combined with the high RPM, the PPSh-41 is a force to be reckoned with at close range due to its extreme power.
The PPSh-41 continues to perform well out until medium range. Although slightly obstructive, the iron sights are clean, the muzzle flash does not significantly hinder accuracy, and the recoil is very manageable, manifesting as little more than a slight upward pull. The Reflex Sight can be used to improve accuracy, and the Quickdraw and Grip both aid in improving the weapon's handling. Extended Mags gives the PPSh-41 a 52-round drum mag, allowing the player to engage multiple targets at once without running out of ammo. However, the PPSh-41 is effective enough to be used very well without any attachments, making it an effective secondary if one equips the Rifleman training option.
The PPSh-41 is available from Level 1 with the use of an Unlock Token. As such, the weapon sees frequent use in online play, especially in the War gamemode, where the majority of objectives emphasize close-range combat and cater to the weapon's main strength. Overall, the PPSh-41 is one of the most effective and versatile weapons in the game and is devastating up until medium range.
Nazi Zombies
The PPSh-41 can be bought from the Weapon Lockers or from the Mystery Box. When the PPSh-41 is upgraded via the Ubersprengen, it becomes the Dedushka.
"The Classic"
In addition to the regular PPSh, a special variant called The Classic can be unlocked via an in-game easter egg in The Final Reich, The Darkened Shore, The Shadowed Throne, and The Frozen Dawn. The Classic PPSh-41 features the Extended Mags attachment by default, with a magazine capacity of 70 (as opposed to 52 with the regular PPSh + Extended Mags attachment equipped), as well as more reserve ammo and a higher rate of fire. The Classic can be acquired from the Mystery Box after the player has dropped jolts in four small bowls scattered around the map.
- The first bowl is near the truck in the Main Square.
- The second bowl is in the corner of sandbags near the house up the stairs on Riverside.
- The third bowl is in the Morgue near the shelf.
- The fourth and final bowl is in the pub behind a table next to the hole in the wall.
When "The Classic" is upgraded via the Ubersprengen, it becomes the Babushka.

Multiplayer
The PPSh-41 is an incredibly dominant gun in close range gunfights. It features an impressive rate of fire, even faster than the CBR4, coupled with a fast ADS speed and tight hipfire spread. It has multiple different attachments to further boost it's already impressive ADS speed and hipfire spread. The PPSh-41 boasts a massive 65 round base drum mag, allowing users to take on multiple opponents before having to reload. Smaller magazine options are available if the user wishes for extra mobility. In exchange for its excellent close range performance, the PPSh-41 is rather pitiful at longer range engagements. The gun has heavy vertical and horizontal recoil, making it difficult to track enemies at longer ranges. The PPSh-41 has mediocre body multipliers, making it difficult to score a faster TTK at longer ranges. The weapon also features a pitiful initial range of only 11 meters before damage dropoff occurs. Interestingly, the minimum damage will always be 17 damage no matter how far the enemy is. Overall, the PPSh-41 is best suited for close range fights since there are better options for the longer ranges.

The PPSh-41 can be brought into any map via Create-A-Class, at Common rarity and can be found at any rarity via the Mystery Box for 950 Essence. When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the Soul Reaper.

Call of Duty & United Offensive
- Although in Call of Duty: United Offensive it is only seen with a drum mag, when the main menu is loaded with the Soviet Theme, a PPSh-41 with a standard mag is shown.
Call of Duty: Finest Hour
- This version of the PPSh-41 seems to be poorly constructed, with a noticeable misalignment of the metal joint between the stock and the receiver.
Call of Duty: World at War
- If Pack-a-Punched, the number of rounds in a mag for the PPSH-41 is changed from 71 to 115, referencing Element 115.
- Unlike the console version in Nacht der Untoten, the PPSh-41 is available in the Mystery Box in Call of Duty: Zombies.
- In third person mode, the PPSh-41 will have always a drum mag. The HUD icon does also possess the attachment.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
- It is possible to gib enemies in the mission "Project Nova".
- In "Project Nova", the PPSh-41 does not expel gas out of the muzzle brake. It does on the Wii though.
- NPCs in "Project Nova" hold the PPSh-41 as if it had a pistol grip.
- The PPSh can be put into Zombies via console commands. but this time, it will retain the name "PPSh-41" as well as retaining its 71 round drum. When Pack a Punched, it will once again become "The Reaper".
Call of Duty: WWII
- In the beta, the model of the Extended Mag version used to retain the PPS42-like magwell (as seen when reloading), with the drum magazine clipping through it as a result. This was fixed in the final game, which removes this magwell when the Extended Mag is equipped.
- The Pack-a-Punched names of the PPSh-41 and "The Classic" are "Dedushka" and "Babushka", which means "grandfather" and "grandmother" in Russian, respectively.
- The Classic may be a reference to the PPSh-41 in World at War. Interestingly, it still has an incorrect mag capacity of 70 instead of the correct 71.
- When upgrading The Classic, the mag capacity changes to 115, another reference to Element 115.
