The MP9 is a weapon that appears as a machine pistol in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and as a submachine gun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Multiplayer

It is the second machine pistol unlocked in the game, at level 16.

At any range short of 25 meters, the MP9 will deal 33 damage per bullet, needing fours hots to kill. Damage decreases linearly until forty meters. At any range past forty meters, the MP9 will deal nineteen damage per bullet, needing six shots to kill. The MP9 has a four shot kill range of 33.5 meters, and a five shot kill range of 38.9 meters. In Hardcore, the MP9 has a one shot kill range of roughly 28.3 meters. The MP9's damage doubles on headshots. A single headshot will almost always reduce the number of shots needed to kill by one, and two headshots will the reduce the number of shots needed to kill by two. A headshot is a one-shot kill at any range in Hardcore. The MP9 has low penetration power.

The MP9 fires fully automatically at a rate of 895 RPM.

The MP9 has recoil values of 60 to the left and 70 to the right. The MP9 has no downwards recoil value, and will kick upwards with every shot. The value going up is either 40 or 50. The MP9 has a centerspeed value of 2000. The MP9 has minimal idle sway. Like all other machine pistols, the MP9 has a very slight amount of shot spread when aiming down the sights.

The MP9 allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 80% of the base movement speed. The MP9 allows users to aim down the sights in 200 milliseconds, and the MP9 has good hip-fire accuracy. The MP9's reload animation is 2.1 seconds long, or 2.9 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 1.33 seconds.

The MP9 has a magazine capacity of 32 rounds, and a starting ammo loadout of 128 rounds.

The MP9 has the standard assortment of machine pistol attachments available to it. All attachments work as intended on the MP9.

Much like the USAS 12 and Skorpion, the MP9 increases sprint time by approximately 75%. When combined with Extreme Conditioning, the player can abuse this mobility to increase his stamina by almost 3.5x.

Trivia

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

  • When the player runs with the MP9, they can see their character holds a magazine in their left hand.
  • When viewed from third-person, the player's hand slightly obscures the barrel of the weapon.
  • There is a foldable stock on the right side of the MP9, this is better seen while sprinting.
  • At Call of Duty XP, the sprint animation was identical to the TMP from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
  • When using Akimbo, the MP9 in the left hand is silent in the Wii version.
  • If the field of view is set to any value higher than 80 while using the Akimbo MP9s, the player can see a third hand between the two hands when the player reloads. This extra hand is always bare and acts as if it is holding a pistol.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

  • The name of the gun is a reference to Horus, one of the most significant ancient Egyptian deities who served many functions, most notably as the god of kingship, healing, protection, the sun, and the sky.
