"3 round burst pistol. High rate of fire with moderate recoil."
— Description.

The B23R (also referred to as Beretta 23R) is a three-round burst handgun featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Strike Team.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Campaign

The B23R (referred to as B2023R and the Beretta 93R in the game files) can be selected in the customized loadout, and is also a part of the recommended loadout in "Achilles' Veil". It does not have any delay between bursts, unlike its multiplayer counterpart.

In the mission "Karma", if the player kills the guard who opens the weapons locker after searching for Chloe, he may drop a B23R with a semi-automatic firing function. This variant also has a different firing sound, which is noticeably lower than the sound of other firearms in the game.

Multiplayer

The B23R is the third pistol to be unlocked at level 19.

At any range short of 11.25 meters, the B23R will deal 45 damage per bullet, needing three shots to kill. At any range between 11.25 meters and 22.5 meters, the B23R will deal 33 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. At any range between 22.5 meters and thirty meters, the B23R will deal 24 damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. The B23R does nineteen damage per bullet at any range past thirty meters, needing six shots to kill. The B23R in Hardcore is a one shot kill up to 22.5 meters. Headshots do not deal any extra damage than shots to the body. The B23R has low penetration power.

The B23R fires in three-round burst configuration. The B23R fires the first two bullets within the burst at 1250 RPM, and the last bullet in the burst comes out at 937 RPM. The average fire rate within the burst is 1145 RPM. The B23R has a relatively short burst delay, and the overall maximum fire rate of the B23R is 703 RPM.

The B23R has recoil values of 35 to the left, 35 to the right, 55 upwards, and 10 downwards. The B23R has a centerspeed value of 1100. Unlike other handguns, the B23R has no shot spread when aiming down the sights.

The B23R allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, and strafe at 84% of the base movement speed. The B23R allows users to aim down the sight in 125 milliseconds, and the B23R's hip-fire accuracy is good. The B23R's reload animation is 1.63 seconds long, or 1.8 seconds long if the magazine is empty. The user can Reload Cancel after 0.95 seconds.

The B23R has a magazine capacity of fifteen rounds, or five bursts. The B23R has a starting ammo loadout of sixty rounds.

The B23R has the standard assortment of attachments available for a handgun. All attachments work as expected on the B23R.

The B23R is the first weapon tier on Gun Game. It is equipped with the Tactical Knife attachment.

Zombies

The B23R makes an appearance in every Zombies map excluding Bus Depot, Town, and Farm. In Nuketown Zombies, it is inside the green house. In TranZit, it is found on the ceiling of the Bus. In Die Rise, it is in the Trample Steam room. In Mob of the Dead, costing only 900 points instead of the usual 1000, it is found opposite one of the heads of Cerberus in the 'Broadway' cell block. In Buried, it is located on the right side of the gunsmith's wall. In Origins, it is found in the trench between 115 Generators 1 and 3 and costs 750.

It retains its 15-round magazine capacity, with 105 in reserve (120 rounds overall for 40 bursts). It is fairly powerful, particularly on lower rounds. The burst fire means that it will run out of ammo very quickly past round 10, making constant ammo purchases a necessity. However, it remains powerful until around round 20 and is especially effective with headshots. Because of its power for a good price, this gun is very useful if a player joins in the middle of a game as they can buy it immediately and still be able to do some damage if access to the Mystery Box is not available. In Origins, the B23R can be found in the Mystery Box with the Extended Clip attachment, with 24 rounds instead of 15, and 168 in reserve instead of 105.

When Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the B34R. It will become fully-automatic with 20-rounds per magazine and 180 rounds in reserve. It can be Pack-a-Punched multiple times like other weapons and can attain the Fast Mag attachment. However, it's not a good weapon to use after round 30, as it has a low headshot multiplier that Double Tap Root Beer can't fix and runs out of ammo extremely fast with its fast fire rate and low ammo supply. If the extended mags variant is upgraded, it gains a magazine with 30 rounds and 270 reserve ammunition but is still not recommended as other weapons are much stronger.

  • In the mission "Celerium", Erik Breighner may drop a B23R after he is killed.
  • In the Buried opening cutscene, on multiple occasions Marlton and Stuhlinger are seen using Dual Wield B23Rs, which is not possible to obtain in Zombies.
  • In Origins, the B23R costs 900 points on Public Match and Custom Games, but it costs 750 points on Local mode.
  • The soldier in the cover art of Black Ops II is holding a B23R.
