Chapter 44 is the forty fourth chapter of Weak Hero.
Synopsis
Colton wonders how Gray can focus on studying when Eunjang could be completely crushed at any moment. He and his friend go to the bathroom to smoke.
Forrest and his crew are at Sinpung. Robin notices some seniors nearby and asks if they’d like to fight him. Since they don’t want to fight, Robin takes their pack cigarettes instead. Forrest jokingly scolds his friend for stealing but Robin says they just gave it to him when he asked for them. Grape asks if Robin is really gonna take up Ben Park and that he’ll show up raging if he just roughs up Alex Go. Robin says he really wants to have a go at Ben and Forrest agrees to leave Ben to him.
On the rooftop at Eunjang, Eugene explains how the Yeongdeungpo Union consists of five schools: Yeo-Il, Daehyeon, Ganghak, Hyeongshin, and Yoosun. Since they’re already familiar with Donald Na and Jimmy Bae, Eugene skips explaining about them.
He explains how Hyeongshin’s Forrest Lee became the school head after Myles Joo’s excommunication and that unlike the simple and aggressive Myles, Forrest is more cunning and sly. He says that there are rumors that Myles’ excommunication was in part planned by Forrest himself.
Eugene then explains about Wolf Keum of Ganghak. Wolf is a dark horse that suddenly made a debut that year and took over Ganghak, making him the newest member of the Union. Ganghak’s red blazer is a symbol of fear in the streets and Wolf’s overly cruel and violent nature is said to have discouraged anyone from challenging him.
Eugene goes on to talk about Daehyeon. He says Jake is unanimously known as the strongest in the Union aside from Donald. Jake is from Daehyeon Middle School and people were surprised and wondered why he joined the Union. The reason was last year, the Union was at its peak and their notoriety spread across Yeongdeungpo. In middle school, Jake wasn’t absorbed into any party and walked his own path; Eugene says he was too great to fit into any kind of system.
As Eugene rambles on about praising Jake, Ben notices Alex left in the middle of the conversation and Gerard tells him that Alex went to the bathroom. Eugene brings up that he heard the Hyeongshin students talking amongst each other rumors of Eunjang’s White Mamba, an unbleeding, unfeeling demon at Eunjang that will smash your head with a brick and stab you with a pen. The boys realize that it’s about Gray but since Eunjang students are oblivious to Gray’s new epithet and how rumors have spread at Yoosun, Yoosun is the source of the rumors.
At Daehyeon High School, Jake and Dean are reading Two Piece. Dean tells Jake to slow down but Jake tells him that he’s always a page ahead of others in everything.
