The Guardian Hunter (ガーディアンハンター Gādian Hantā?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a synthetic beast created by Dr. Eggman during the Reverie incident.
Appearance
The Guardian Hunter resembles some kind of cat/spider hybrid nightmare creature. It has several pink tendrils that it uses for legs connected to a round body. Its head is black with pointy ears and a singular cat eye on it. Below its body is a pink hand with yellow talons.
History
Sonic Dream Team
The Guardian Hunter was created by Dr Eggman in Dream Factory where it was guarded by The Four Man. Its purpose was to defeat Ariem so that Eggman could take control of said Reverie and make his dreams of world domination real.
When Ariem unlocked Dream Factory's Boss Gate, Sonic and his friends also discovered the existence of the Guardian Hunter. Tails/Cream entered the dream to shut it down, only for Eggman to call The Four Man, buying him enough time to activate it.
Some time after, when Ariem unlocked Nightmare Maze's Boss Gate, it was revealed to be an ambush from the Guardian Hunter who attacked Ariem right away, harming her greatly. Knuckles and Rouge saved Ariem with one attacking the beast and the other going to her rescue. The Guardian Hunter then fled to the arena where it would live its last moments after a big fight.

Boss guide
Unlike the previous bosses of Sonic Dream Team, this boss fight plays similar to the Egg Beetle, the Nega-Wisp Armor, or Squid, and thus will have to be chased.
This boss takes four hits to be defeated, has four phases, and is fought on an arena made up of two circles.
Phase 1/2/3
The Guardian Hunter will run away from the player, creating several spiked balls and a few Egg Pawns to launch forwards. The Guardian Hunter can be stunned by launching an Egg Pawn at it. When stunned, its legs won't be strong enough to keep its only weak point, its eye, out of reach. The Guardian Hunter will use its hand to try to run away, but the player must now damage it by using a Homing Attack. Once it is damaged, the Guardian Hunter will get up, snap its fingers, and rotate the arena, forcing the player to to climb up to where it fled.
In the first phase, the Guardian Hunter is fought on the inner part of the arena, where attacks are extremely easy to see coming. In phase two, it is fought on the side of the outer circle, attacks become a bit harder to see coming here because they arrive from the right of the screen. In the third phase, it is fought on the outer part of the inner circle, attacks are hard to see coming here as they spawn outside of the player's view.
In the harder verion of the fight, he sends more spike balls that usual and in paterns, so that there is only one visble way to avoid being hit and to better hide the occasinal egg pawn
Phase 4
After being hit three times, the Guardian Hunter will rotate the Arena as usual, only for it to reveal a giant pool of Nightmare Fuel inside the inner circle, which it will then dive in to. After climbing to the side of the outer circle, the Guardian Hunter will come out of the arena giant, and will keep shooting a lot of projectiles. The player must keep Homing Attacking the Egg Pawns in order to reach its eye and defeat it once and for all.
This phase is entire different in the harder fight however, as not only does the Guardian Hunter regain all it's health, it also attacks entirely differently, now it will send in paterns of projectiles, which the players must avoidu using 2 things: 1: their shape, 2: markings on the ground. Sometimes an egg pawn may appear, Knuckles or Rouge have to attack it to deal damage to the guardian hunter, it will then start levitating in the air. Once the Guardian Hunter has been hit 3 times, Knuckles or Rouge must take the Homing Attack path formed by the levitating egg pawns to deal the final blow.

- The sound of the Guardian Hunter's snap is similar to the Joy-Con snap of the Nintendo Switch.
