Eruption is a Fire-type move introduced in Generation III.

RSE	The higher the user's HP, the more damage caused.
FRLG	The higher the user's HP, the more powerful this attack becomes.
DPPtHGSS	The user attacks in an explosive fury. The lower the user's HP, the less powerful this attack becomes.
BWB2W2	The user attacks the opposing team with explosive fury. The lower the user's HP, the less powerful this attack becomes.
XYORAS SMUSUM	The user attacks opposing Pokémon with explosive fury. The lower the user's HP, the lower the move's power.

Effect

In battle

Eruption inflicts damage. Its power is calculated using the formula below:

${\displaystyle \text{Power} = \dfrac{\text{Current HP}\times150}{\text{Max HP}}}$

In other words, its power decreases if the user's current HP decreases. However, the power cannot be lower than 1.

In Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Eruption is one of the moves that destroy a yellow rock in the background of a battle when it is present.

Contests

The appeal works better the later it is performed.

Super Contests

Earn +2 if the Pokémon performs last in the turn.

• All of the Pokémon who are able to learn this move are fire types, except for Groudon, but when it becomes Primal Groudon, it gets the STAB for Eruption.
• Cyndaquil and its evolution line are the only starter evolution to learn Eruption.
• As of the Generation VIII, Torkoal is the only Pokémon able to learn Eruption.
