Natri (なとリ Natori) is one of the villagers of Ishigami Village. He is the father of Carbo and the husband of Alumi.
Appearance
Natri is a very short old man, balding but with several inches of hair surrounding the crown of his head. The hair sticks out wildly. He has a fairly long moustache that is trimmed above his mouth and reaches his chin. His eyebrows are small and arched, high on his forehead and thicker at the ends. His eyes droop with age and have very prominent crow's feet. Natri also has wrinkles on his forehead and around his mouth. His head is quite round, slightly wider near the bottom due to his jowls. His expression is generally happy.
His tunic is a grass-green colour, with sleeves ending above his elbow. He wears the village rope around his waist, wrapped around twice and tied in the front.
Personality
Natri is the traditional wise old man, giving his opinion on things[2] and commenting on the weather.[3] When Senku first arrives near the village, he says it's fine as long as he doesn't attempt attacking or entering the village, and that no one should provoke him into doing so. He's surprisingly relaxed about the strange new person so it's possible Natri believes he's lived through enough events to not be phased by anything anymore.
He is also hard to trick and practical, as before the rest of the village head out with the car to fight the Tsukasa Empire Natri tells Senku he knows it was to help the older people make the journey. He seems to be the main link between the elderly and Senku, as Alumi nods to him before he tells Senku their plan to stay behind.[4]
Abilities and Skills
While quite old, Natri seems to be in quite good health, helping the children make the gold thread needed for the cellphone. Apart from that, Natri is never shown doing much else other than greeting the youngsters and partaking in meals.
Synopsis
Kingdom of Science Arc
Natri is introduced sitting on a bench, discussing the outsider with Carbo and Shovel. He agrees with Kokuyo that Senku isn't a threat and should be left alone unless he starts "stirring up trouble".[2] He is later shown intrigued by the ramen cart, however is not shown eating any.[5]
Village Games Arc
During the Grand Bout, Natri is shown to agree with the others that Ginro shouldn't be Village Chief.[6]
Communications Arc
He later helps the children out with making the gold wire for the cellphone, commenting that it feels like the winter will be another harsh one.[3] Once it's complete and Senku builds the car, he tells him the elderly of the village won't be making the trip. He insists they'll stay back so the fighters can bring more science equipment over to Roppongi Hills, saying they trust Senku and the others to win the fight before Tsukasa's men can attack the village.[7]
Age of Exploration Arc
After the hot air balloon has been made, Natri is shown welcoming Senku and Chrome back to the village, then later amazed by how detailed a map they manage to create using the bird's eye view from the air.[8] When wheat is found and cultivated, Natri is among those trying the charred loaves and enjoying it,[9] then enjoying it even more after Francois bakes better bread.[10] Natri is then shown listening in on Ruri's call to Chrome on the motorboat,[11] then apparently having not moved at all, listening in on Ruri's call to Senku on Treasure Island.[12]
Relationships
Alumi
Natri spends a lot of time with his wife, Alumi. It's rare for them to be depicted apart from each other, usually sharing the same panel/shot. They chat a lot about the goings-on in Ishigami Village and enjoy each other's company.
