Tetsuken

Tetsuken (鉄犬 (テツケン) , Tetsuken) is a member of Ishigami Village. He is the father of Kinro and Ginro and the husband of Shirogane.

Appearance

He has short black hair, smoothed flat to his head, and a black goatee with some stubble around the edges of his jaw. He has narrow eyes, similar to Kinro's, but smaller. His eyebrows have a shallow arch and are slightly wider at the end. His expression is usually serious.

Tetsuken's outfit is grey-blue, with cut-off pants and a short sleeved shirt, ending below his hips. He wears a rope belt cinched at the waist. Strapped to his back, he has a small round shield with the same green 6-pointed star pattern that Kinro has on his.^[2]

Abilities and Skills

Tetsuken is usually shown holding a spear, and as a village guard he is probably proficient despite never having been shown using it.^[3]

Synopsis

In the anime, Tetsuken is shown watching the Grand Bout on the sidelines, sometimes accompanying Shirogane.^[4] Later, he joins in on the celebrations for the new Village Chief.^[5] Afterwards he can be seen in scattered scenes where the general population of Ishigami village is shown such as in episode 29, where he can be seen contemplating the newest iteration of the Steam Gorilla, near Dia and Alabaster; he also has a new shield bearing the emblem of the Kingdom of Science flag (similar to the shield Kohaku got after her previous one was fasioned into a crown gear).

Trivia

• His name contains the kanji for Iron (鉄, Tetsu) and Dog (犬, Ken) and put together mean Iron Dog, in keeping with the fact that all other members of Ishigami village have names referencing minerals and chemical elements. His being the reference to the chemical element Iron, its elemental symbol is Fe and atomic number is 26.
• He is one of the villagers exclusively shown in the anime (not counting the introduction page in the manga in chapter 17).
