Jasper (ジャスパー Jasupā) is a member of Ishigami Village. Together with Turquoise, he serves as a guard for the village's priestess.[3]
Appearance
Jasper has mid-length white hair and a small black goatee. He has a long, straight nose and a stern expression. He wears a piece of rope tied around his neck and wears dark green clothes.
Personality
Jasper is a calm and soft-spoken man. He is very loyal to the village and as such is tasked with guarding the village's priestess, Ruri. As with most villagers, Jasper is wary of Senku at first, but eventually comes to accept him as an integral part of the village.
Abilities and Skills
- Battle Prowess: Being the runner up for the Grand Bout against Kokuyo, it's clear that Jasper possesses some good battle prowess to make it that far into the Grand Bout[4], and he could perhaps be one of the villages strongest warriors.
- Swordsmanship: Jasper is seen using a katana in the battle for the Cave of Miracles[5], and he is usually seen with two swords attached to his rope around his waist.
- Refereeing: During the Grand Bout, Jasper is the one to referee the match, and is said to be very good at this job, even Chrome mentioning that he is an insanely good referee. Much like Kinro, Jasper has great respect for the rules and won't tolerate anyone breaking them. When Kokuyo and Turquoise question why he let Kohaku participate, he says that the rules of the Grand Bout are unable to be changed[6].
Synopsis
Kingdom of Science Arc
He is first seen berating Kohaku for her apparent clumsiness with the water she needed to carry to Ruri. At the request of Ruri, he and Turquoise leave the two sisters alone to talk.[7]
Jasper and Turquoise are next present at a hearing with what appears to be the village's leader, Kokuyo. They disclose that the person who brought the stranger to the village is in fact Kohaku, much to Kokuyo's frustration.[8]
Village Games Arc
Jasper and Turquoise set preparations for the village's games. Turquoise scolds him for not stopping Kohaku join the tournament again, Jasper says the rules are sacred and no rule says a woman can't participate, with the former saying that no one would think a woman would join the tournament to begin with and that's why there is no prohibition for women. Kokuyo says he is fine with Kohaku present, as he wouldn't allow a man who can't beat a woman rule the village. Jasper then informs Kokuyo that Senku has joined the games as well.[9]
When Ruri collapses from her ailment, Kokuyo scolds Jasper for letting her walk while feeling sick.[10]
Jasper acts as the match judge during the Village Games, deciding whether a rule has been broken during a match. During Kinro's fight with Magma, he rules that Suika throwing in her helmet to help Kinro is not against the rules.[11]
Later, when Chrome uses the same helmet to beat Magma by lighting his shirt on fire, Jasper allows it, letting Chrome win the match. He inspects the helmet afterwards, with Chrome saying the helmet itself was already allowed while the rest is his own sweat and tears. Impressed, Jasper announces Chrome the winner of the bout. When Ginro wrongly deduces Ruri is willing to marry anyone that wins the village games, Jasper thinks to himself how unaware Ginro is; not even being able to read that Ruri's statement was just for the sake of formality. Eventually, Jasper has no choice but to declare Senku the ultimate victor of the competition as Chrome faints before the former has a chance to surrender.[12]
He is surprised when Senku cured Ruri and watches the girl dash through the village.
Vs. Hyoga Arc
When Homura set the village ablaze, a worried Jasper and Turquoise tried to tend to Ruri. However, they were told to forget her and protect the children. While doing so, the pair spotted Homura who cut off their path.
Communications Arc
Jasper is present when Senku creates cotton candy and is amazed by the taste.
Once Senku finished recreating the record player is made, Jasper is amazed by hearing the recording of Senku's father and the song by Lillian Weinberg.
When Homura attacked, Jasper was surprised when she recognized him from her months of observation.[13]

Due to the petrification beam being activated, Jasper was petrified with the other villagers.[14]
Moon Mission Arc
Jasper and Turquoise are tasked with watching the Medusa through surveillance cameras placed inside its containment chamber.
