Carbo

Carbo (カーボ Kaabo) is a villager from Ishigami Village and the husband of Beryl.

Appearance

Carbo is a handsome young man with spiky blonde hair. He keeps it up using a rope around his forehead, similar to the one Chrome wears like a hachimaki. A single strand falls between his eyes like Magma's does. His nose is slim and his mouth is of an average size. His eyebrows are very short and tend to be slightly inclined. His eyes are extremely narrow and he has visible tear troughs. Carbo's usual expression makes him look like a sly delinquent.

He wears a long-sleeved, dark green tunic that reaches his ankles, tied with a rope belt. His sleeves are usually rolled to the elbow, and the collar is popped in such a way that it covers his neck.

Personality

Carbo is brusque and occasionally uses clipped speech, such as "y'think" (you think).[4] He is never shown being helpful in any way, mostly hanging around the village waiting for things to happen.

Abilities and Skills

Carbo is presumably able to use a spear, as he was shown carrying one when Magma took him and Mantle to deal with "the outsider sorcerer".[5]

Synopsis

Carbo and Shovel Discussing the Outsider

Carbo makes his debut sitting on the roof, asking Shovel and Natri what happened with the outsider that Kohaku brought in, rather than helping his wife Beryl with the laundry she's carrying.[6]

The next time we see him, he's with Magma, answering Shovel's call for help after Senku starts pulling up bridge planks to make his magnet. He joins in, looking for a fight with the sorcerer, and derisively asks if Gen just came to bring them flowers. He is then surprised when Gen makes them disappear, convincing them he's the real deal.[7]

Carbo joins the rest of the village in watching the Grand Bout, and roots for Magma in the match against Kinro. He is both scared and impressed that Kinro forced Magma to get serious, and that it's the first time it's ever happened.[8] In the anime, he also comments during Chrome and Mantle's fight that compared to the last fight, it was like watching children battle.[9] He is later shown in agreement with the rest of the villagers that Ginro cannot be allowed to become the Village Chief with his sleazy plans. They all celebrate when Senku wins.[10]

Relationships

Magma

Carbo appears to be a fan of Magma's, as he is shown joining in on the plan to take down the "sorcerer", then later cheering him on during the Grand Bout. However, his devotion to Magma is still outclassed by Mantle who is rarely ever away from him.
