Scruff

Scruff is a small tank engine from The Island of Sodor.

Personality

Scruff is a grubby little chap, who runs on steam but has a square, diesel-like body. He loves getting dirty as he shunts rubbish trucks ready for "scrunching" and he is good friends with Whiff, Irving and Warrior. In fact in his earlier days he has been known to run away from having to get clean. Like a tiny ant, Scruff can be seen carrying his tiny self around busily working in the background. He keeps up a cheerful demeanour to other engines and doesn't give much thought to what people think of him or how messy he can get sometimes.

Technical Details

Basis

Scruff is based on No. 9369 "Musketeer", a Sentinel 100 HP BE Type chain-driven vertical-boiler steam locomotive built in 1946 by Sentinel Wagon Works. "Musketeer" is preserved by the Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust.

Livery

Scruff is painted lime green with dark green stripes, funnel and front. He has brass nameplates on either side of his tanks.
