Molayne is a character appearing in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. He is a former Trial Captain and Sophocles's cousin. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, he replaces Hala as a member of the Elite Four.
Appearance
Molayne is a man with a three-layered hair: the bottom one being dark-colored, the middle one brown and the top being colored light-colored. His eyes are colored grey. He wears a blue jacket with red stripes around his fore-arms, a teal collared shirt with two stripes tied in a knot, some black pants and shoes. He also has hexagon-shaped glasses with a grey frame.
Personality
Etymology
Molayne and his Japanese name, Maarein, both come from mullein, an alternative name to the plant genus known as verbascum. It could also include molybdenum, a metallic element.
Biography
Sun and Moon
Molayne is a former Trial Captain, who passed the role onto his cousin, Sophocles. Now, Molayne takes care of the Alola's Pokémon Storage System.
After Sophocles' trial is completed, Molayne gives the player character Steelium Z.
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
Molayne role is quite altered in these games, now he gives the Steelium Z to the player before Sophocles's trial and don't battle with him/her and later, he takes position as a member of Alola's Elite Four.
