The Declasse Scramjet is a custom weaponized vehicle featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the After Hours update, released on August 21st, 2018, during the Scramjet Week event.
Influence
The Scramjet takes cues from the popular 1960s anime series Speed Racer and the lead car, the Mach Five, with influences from various 1950s and 1960s concept cars. The front and rear fenders resemble those found on the Alfa Romeo 33/2 Coupé Speciale or the Ferrari 250 P5 Berlinetta Speciale Concept. The rear follows the Oldsmobile Golden Rocket, however, ending in exhausts and tail lights similar to the Chrysler Turbine Car. The headlights, as well as the grille where the weapons are mounted, may be influenced by the Alfa Romeo BAT series concept cars.
Design
The Scramjet assumes a sleek profile with a seemingly rounded body, featuring a trident-like front end with circular headlights on the edges and small intakes beside the central nose. The sides of the car lack any sort of handles or mirrors around the doors, and the car has an open-top design with a curved windshield, while the rear area has triangular intakes on the rear fenders and sharp fins behind the cabin. The rear end only has rectangular tail lights and circular exhaust tips on the edges, also acting as the rocket boosters.
The interior of the car uses the same dials as the Buccaneer and the Dominator, arranged in a way where the main gauges are on the driver side, and the display gauges in the center and below the radio set. A rectangular mirror is mounted above the dashboard, while the steering wheel bears the Declasse logo. It uses large seats with safety belts.
The vehicle only has a primary color assigned to the bodywork and the stitching around the steering wheel. It also uses a set of wheels that are identical to the "Drag SPL" muscle wheels available in Los Santos Customs, Beeker's Garage and other mod shops, with the frontal ones being narrower. The rims can also support a dedicated color.
The vehicle is equipped with a set of machine guns and missile launchers located on the front intakes.

Performance
Vehicle
The Scramjet's aerodynamic design allows for good acceleration and top speed, as well as decent handling and braking. Its suspension is low due to its wheels having negative camber, often struggling to sort small barriers, but it is slightly compensated by the front end having a sloped profile, sorting out curbs and small bumps normally.
The Scramjet has 5 Advanced Flags activated[2], including the 4 flags introduced in the Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series update, with only the first three having known purposes. They are as follows:
- The first causes up-shifting to occur much sooner, and at lower engine revolutions, effectively shortening shift rates.
- The second causes the vehicle's engine to heavily over-rev and remain at the engine red-line for a much longer period of time before shifting, causing revolutions to fluctuate.
- The third increases the vehicle's suspension "springiness", causing it to bounce excessively while driving.
The Scramjet is powered by a front engine, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and powering the rear wheels. Its engine sound is similar to that of the XA-21.

Armor
Protection-wise, the Scramjet offers little to no resistence to explosive damage, as one direct hit by a Homing Missile is able to destroy it. Furthermore, due to its open-top design, the occupants are also prone to sustained gunfire. Inadvisable to take this vehicle to heavy shootout scenes.
Abilities
- The Scramjet has a power hop that is more effective than the Ruiner 2000, jumping eight meters high. This helps the car in avoiding obstacles such as concrete barriers and roadblocks. It has a five second cooldown time.
- The Scramjet features a rocket booster that is more effective than other similar vehicles, propelling the vehicle for 2.25 seconds, but takes 4.5 seconds to recharge when touching the ground with all four wheels. Unlike most cars with the same feature, the booster can be deactivated earlier upon activation (but requires full recharging), allowing for more controllable speed boosts.
Both abilities can be used simultaneously, making the Scramjet a great vehicle for shortcuts and evading most enemies. However, it requires practice, as the car tends to lean forward when using the booster mid-air. This also requires awareness of the environment, as the car may accidentally end up getting stuck or even sinking on water.
Weaponry
- Machine Gun: The vehicle is equipped with two front-facing machine guns, which perform similarly to those on vehicles such as the Blazer Aqua and the Ruiner 2000, albeit with a slightly increased damage output (30, compared to the 20 damage from the aforementioned vehicles) and a lower fire rate (600 rounds per minute, compared to the 1,200 rounds per minute on the aforementioned vehicles). They have decent firepower against players and vehicles with none or light armor, but will struggle against heavily-armored vehicles.
- Missiles: the vehicle is equipped with two homing missile launchers, which function like those on weaponized land vehicles and aircraft. However, they have reduced lock-on range (225 meters) and fire rate (1.5 seconds between shots, with an overall rate of 40 rounds per minute), as well as a limited capacity of 30 missiles. To compensate for the reduced statistics, the missiles have very effective tracking capabilities (on par with the Ruiner 2000), making them almost impossible to avoid.
The driver has access to their weapons for drive-bys, being useful against targets that are away of the vehicle's front or in situations where lighter weaponry is vital (i.e. retrieving a target vehicle).

- In Grand Theft Auto Online, the default radio stations are grouped by genre. The Scramjet uses the "Dance" group which can play:
- FlyLo FM
- Soulwax FM
- Los Santos Underground Radio (Enhanced Editions only. May not play due to a three station limit within the group)
- Music Locker Radio (Enhanced Editions only)
- Media Player (Enhanced Editions only. May not play due to a three station limit within the group)
Trivia
- Scramjet ("supersonic combustion ramjet") is a variant of a ramjet air-breathing jet engine in which combustion takes place in supersonic airflow.
- The manufacturer choice appears to reflect the real prototype Mach 5 with functioning saw blades, which was built on a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette chassis (with Declasse being the GTA iteration of Chevrolet).
- The Scramjet's ability to jump like the Ruiner 2000, is a reference to the Mach 5's "Auto Jacks" from the Speed Racer anime.
- Additionally, the Scramjet’s rocket engines are possibly a reference to the Mach 4 from the 2008 Speed Racer movie, which sported a single jet engine with an afterburner.
- Although not available through conventional means, the Scramjet supports window tint, which is also applied on the windshield. This feature is also shared with vehicles like the Kuruma (Armored), the Visione and the Tezeract.
Oversights
- As a result of trade price conditions removed after The Criminal Enterprises update, the players who previously bought the Scramjet at a trade price have been encountering an issue that their said vehicles removed for no reasons.
