Combos

Grants life-leeching abilities, useful for tactical takedowns of your enemies.
Description in Shop

Shadow is a Mythical Natural-type Blox Fruit that costs $ 2,900,000 or R$ 2,425 from the Blox Fruit Dealer.

The Shadow fruit allows the user to control shadows, casting penumbratic attacks that leeches the life out of enemies.

Shadow is a great choice for PVP as it has enormous damage, high autoaim, and huge lifesteal abilities It is also decent for grinding due to the AoE on [V] Corvus Torment and the damage on [F] Umbrage, but it lacks multi-target attacks, as the moves [Z] Somber Rebellion and [C] Nightmare Leech are single target. It is not recommended for the First Sea and early Second Sea due to its high mastery requirements and a lack of Elemental Immunity.

Abilities

Name Description
UmbraMeter
The user will always have an Umbra Meter bar on their screen. The meter fills up by dealing damage with Shadow abilities to enemies, and it fills up automatically at night.

The Umbra Meter can only be drained by using [V] Corvus Torment.

The user will also get a shadow aura surrounding themselves that will be bigger and darker, depending on the amount of Umbra Meter they have.
(Note: the Shadow aura does not deal damage to anyone, and is purely cosmetic.)

The user shoots a swarm of bats towards the cursor. Upon surface contact, the swarm will explode, dealing damage and sending a few small bats which will then fly to a nearby enemy and damage them. The bats have slight auto-aim, and will attempt to fly towards the target if close enough. (Note: Multiple bats can attack the same target).

Nightmare Leech

The user lunges forward. If the user makes contact with an enemy, the user will regain 20% of their max health and deal good damage to the enemy, knocking them back. This move is similar to Sanguine Art's [Z] (Bloodbane Drain) but the range is shorter and high end-lag. Many people don't notice, but this move has a finisher variant. It makes the victim instantly explode in contact. (Health must be maximum half the damage of the move to activate)

Corvus Torment

The user inflates their body into a giant dark sphere, after which, they will explode, draining the entirety of their Umbra Meter and forming an "umbral" cloud. The explosion will do extreme damage and leave behind a swarm of bats which will deal passive damage to any enemies inside of the cloud. The enemies' vision will also get slightly distorted if they get hit by the explosion. The size of the black hole and explosion is based on how high the user's Umbra Meter is. The remains of the explosion doesn't really stun. Instead, it pulls the enemies back inside the remains of the move. However, it is possible to escape the explosion's remains using certain teleportation moves.

Overview

Pros
General
  • Very good combo potential.
  • Good mobility.
  • Good for grinding bosses since the attacks are single-target based with high damage.
  • Not too difficult to obtain compared to other Mythical fruits.
  • All moves deal good damage.
  • Easy to use when in aerial PvP.
[Z] Somber Rebellion
  • Can be used to escape combos (if timed correctly), as it flings the user into the air.
  • Decent speed.
[X] Shade Nest
  • The bats have auto-aim and will fly towards the target if they're not too far away.
  • Good range.
[C] Nightmare Leech
  • Heals the user by 20% of their max health when PvP, which can be extremely useful when the player is low on health.
[V] Corvus Torment
  • Extreme damage.
  • Huge hitbox and AoE, especially when used with full Umbra Meter.
  • Great for grinding, as most Enemies will not escape the explosion.
[F] Umbrage
  • Great for grinding and pairs really well with cyborg v3 (energy core).

Cons
General
  • High mastery requirements.
  • Passive quite inconvenient during certain times such as during the day.
  • Requires aim and skill to use in PvP.
  • Bad for some Sea Events, as only [V] (Corvus Torment) and [F] (Umbrage) can hit Sea Beasts.
  • Relatively lower trading value than other Mythical fruits, or even some Legendary fruits.
[Z] Somber Rebellion
  • Single target.
  • Small hitbox.
[X] Shade Nest
  • Relatively slow speed.
  • Small hitbox.
[C] Nightmare Leech
  • Single target.
  • Low range, along with end-lag if the user misses.
  • Longer than average end-lag.
[V] Corvus Torment
  • Most players can escape out of the explosion's radius, making it almost impossible to deal full damage in PvP without a proper stun/holder.
[F] Umbrage
  • Can only be held for 10 seconds, making it less reliable for mobility.
  • Slow flight speed, rendering it almost useless in PvP (except when paired with cyborg v3).

Trivia

  • Shadow is the only fruit that allows the user to utilize the life drain mechanic (just like Ghoul's life leech) by using [C] Nightmare Leech.
    • Shadow is also the second fruit that grants the user health benefits (excluding pre-nerf Buddha).
  • Shadow is the only fruit with the Umbra Meter as it was designed only for itself.
  • Shadow is known as an extremely fun fruit to use.
  • "Umbra" in Latin means "shade" and/or "shadow", and “Corvus” in Latin refers to a “crow” or a “raven”, both being types of birds. This ties into how many of the fruit's abilities have to do with crows/ravens flying at the enemy.
  • Shadow's [Z], [X], [C] moves are quite similar to Godhuman's [Z], [X] (Tap Variant) and [C].
  • Shadow is one of three fruits that have a meter that isn't intended for transformation, with the other two being Spirit and Sound.
  • Shadow's [C] has a finisher variant. It makes the victim instantly explode in contact with the user. It is just a little change, however.
  • Shadow is the rarest and most expensive fruit obtainable from a Fruit Box.
