Vinni is the secondary antagonist of the Blake's 7 episode "Death-Watch".
He was portrayed by Mark Elliott.
Biography
Vinni was a highly sophisticated android created by a weapons cartel on the order of Servalan. It appeared that he was unaware of his true nature and believed himself to be human. He became the First Champion of the Vandor Confederacy by killing their reigning champion, Rakov, in a duel, followed by Rakov's son when he challenged him to a blood feud. As a result, when Vandor ended up at war with Teal, Vinni was slated, under the terms of their convention, to fight their First Champion, Deeta Tarrant, in a duel, the loser of which would be required to give up territory.
Vinni first met Deeta when they chose weapons and taunted him. When they met on the combat ground, Vinni's nature meant he had no fighter's instincts but challenged Deeta to meet him in the open with his weapon holstered and try and beat him to the draw. Even though he had a clear shot at Vinni's back, Deeta agreed. Vinni's faster reflexes gave him the edge in a straightforward draw and he quickly shot Deeta in the chest before killing him with a second shot.
This was what Servalan had been planning. As neutral arbiter, she requested a medical examination of Vinni, which would expose his true nature. This would lead to open warfare between Teal and Vandor, allowing the Terran Federation to annexe both territories. Avon deduced this and had Dayna prevent the examination from taking place.
Del Tarrant, Deeta's brother, then challenged Vinni to a duel on the grounds of blood feud. Thanks to Orac hacking the combat computer and Cally passing on the information telepathically, Tarrant was able to lay an ambush in the combat ground and kill Vinni with a weapon that disintegrated him completely, destroying the evidence and rendering his duel with Deeta void.
