Bercol is a supporting antagonist in Blake's 7, appearing in the episodes "Seek-Locate-Destroy" and "Trial".
He was portrayed by the late John Bryans.
Biography
Councillor Bercol, a senior political figure in the Terran Federation travelled to Servalan's command station with Secretary Rontane to discuss the situation with Blake. Bercol noted his department had attempted to suppress all information about Blake's activities but he was becoming a legend, before asking Servalan what she intended to do. He was mollified by Servalan's revelation that she was appointing a space commander to the sole task of eliminating Blake, although uncertain of her choice of Travis.
The following year, Bercol returned to the station with Rontane as an observer at Travis' court martial for the massacre of unarmed dissidents. They had both hoped that Servalan's repeated failure to capture Blake would see her removed. When Rontane used his voice print to access the trial room, Bercol attempted to enter the room with him only for the guards to turn their weapons on him. Momentarily panicked, Bercol introduced himself as Senator Bercol, Head of the Information Bureau and ex-officio member of the High Council.
With prompting from Rontane, Bercol understood that Servalan was manipulating the trial to make sure Travis was given the death penalty. He suggested a presidential stay of execution so Travis could testify in an enquiry against Servalan but Rontane felt he wouldn't be credible. When Travis, who had been silent throughout the proceedings, insisted on giving the opening declaration himself, Bercol wondered if it had been a sign of life. Not long after, Bercol was killed with nearly everyone else in the court room when the Liberator attacked the station.
