The Altas are the secondary antagonists of the Blake's 7 episode "Redemption". They were two mechanically enhanced humanoids.
Biography
The two Altas, dubbed Alta One and Alta Two, were the servants of the System, the super-computer that controlled three planets and had enslaved the population. They were based at the System's headquarters of Space World. They had received mechanical modifications that allowed them to interface directly with the System. One of the slaves claimed they weren't really people at all.
The Altas oversaw the capture of the Liberator, formerly the System's Deep Space Vehicle 2, and led the boarding party which captured Blake, Jenna and Avon, with the rest of the crew already in custody. They had Blake tortured with a pain stick when he spoke out of turn and planned to have the whole crew executed after interrogating them. They questioned Blake about how he came to be in possession of the Liberator, but the questioning was halted when the System began to break down as a result of Orac's sabotage.
Blake managed to escape by removing a tube from Alta Two's chest box, temporarily disabling her. Alta Two later came across the rest of the crew escaping and tried to have a guard kill them, but she was killed by an escaped slave who had teamed up with Blake. As the Liberator crew escaped Space World in their ship, Alta One teleported guard on board, but Cally teleported them back as they threw their grenades, which exploded around Alta One. This and Orac's sabotage apparently caused the System to self-destruct.
