Colonel Quute is a major antagonist in the Blake's 7 episode "Traitor".
He was portrayed by Christopher Neame, who also played Fearless Leader in Boris and Natasha: The Movie and Dr. Skagra in Doctor Who.
Biography
Colonel Quute was a senior member of the Terran Federation garrison who had occupied Helotrix after the population were subjugated with the pylene-50 drug, acting as second-in-command to the General. He personally carried out the interrogation of the rebel Igin, who had been captured and made docile with pylene-50, learning that the rebel group led by Major Hunda was making a plan to infiltrate the city and destroy the Federation's communications terminal. He told Igin to return to the rebels after fitting him with a tracker. Mistakenly believing that Igin was at the rebel camp, when in fact he had been told to stop some distance from the others, Quute ordered an artillery strike that killed him.
Quute made plans with the General to hand over control to the new Federation-appointed civilian authority, after which they were scheduled to be posted to Wanta (a prospect that excited the General, while Quute was unsure where the planet actually was). He received a report from the Federation Tracer that Orac had tapped into the Federation computers on the planet and convinced the General to order a search for Scorpio.
Undercover agent Leitz attempted to lure the rebels into a trap by encouraging them to enter the city through a mined monorail, but Tarrant and Dayna warned Hunda of the trap and provided his men with a vaccine against pylene=50. Quute soon registered the attack on the city and he and the General led a group of troops to confront the rebels, accompanied by Leitz and Servalan (who Quute knew as Leitz's superior Commissioner Sleer). In the battle that followed, Quute was killed by one of the rebels, using the hand-to-hand skills that Quute had previously dismissed.
