- "None of you have studied enough. I'll teach you everything about the power of lapises.
Now, behold... the beginning of a new world!" - ―Character Introduction[1]
Jade is one of the characters from pop'n music ラピストリア.
He first appeared in Retsu's story, "Retsu, The Runaway (Prequel)" (烈、暴走(前編) Retsu, bousou (zenpen)?). He is also the central character for "Two Worlds" (二つの世界 Futatsu no sekai?), and was an unlockable character for "Decisive Battle" (決戦 Kessen?).
He wields a black, heart-shaped lapis and was possessed by the Lapis Origin, being shown to be an obstacle for the second half of game, before being freed from control.
History

Read at your own risk. |
Jade and Black were synthetically created in a former research building in Lapistoria, being witnesses from experiments growing up. Elenoa and Weiss infiltrated and exterminated the research lab, liberating every victim, minus Jade for unknown reasons.[2]
Jade is now the board chairman of Lapistoria Academy, insidiously manipulated by the original Lapis. During the story, he is planning behind the scenes to become the god of a new world of his making, and it is revealed that Jadeite was doing his bidding. He has the ability to mind-control certain lapis wielders, as seen in the case of Retsu[3] and the twins Nia and Toa[2]. Jade is precocious and scheming, and has a signature cruel giggle.
The Tsugidoka! gang, along with Jadeite and the rest that encountered Jade, are able to bring him back to his senses, revealing that he acted out because he was being controlled by Lapis Origin.[4] Lapis Origin, the original and most powerful Lapis, aimed to use Jade with his powerful black lapis to take MZD's lapis to create an entire new world, because it felt that the Pop'n World was intruding on and overshadowing Lapistoria. After Jade is freed from Lapis Origin's influence, he sides with everyone else against it.[5]
Character Information[1]
Hello everyone, this is Jade, the chairman with the famous giggle who wants to become god.
As expected of ZERO+ZIBA, I didn't receive the song at all, so I felt as if I had surprisingly tread new ground and reached the goal ahead of them.
Jade took control of Nia and Toa, became the antithesis of Black, received the principal's genes, triggered Retsu's outburst, and wanted to become god. It was a difficult position, but with the keyword of "child chairman" it was easy to settle on a design.
Eroded by and fused with his lapis, he has the image of just barely retaining his human form. The diamonds on his head look like decorations, but they're the lapis inside his body sticking out. To sum it up simply, I saw Io-LOWER and thought "I like that", so I ended up taking it as I pleased and it turned out like this.
For his Neutral giggling animation, I was aiming for this exquisite feeling where he was more adorable than insane, but his smile wasn't just an ordinary smile either. If you try it for yourself, you'll see that it was extraordinarily difficult to mix the vertical movement of his giggling with his horizontal swaying to the music.
His Miss animation where he has a three-stage transformation due to lapis corruption was meant to be the core of this character, and I thought "I really want to do this~" from the beginning. Since Pop'n animations are quite short and limited to one action each, I wonder if I was able to express it properly... I think I packed a little too much in there, but now that I look at it I'm glad I did so!
His black and red 2P color is a little more evil, so I recommend that to everyone who likes bad little boys.
Jade-kun has been through lots of things in the story, but if he still wants to become god, I think he should try again!
Appearance
Innocence

Jade is a young boy with pale skin and red-pink eyes, and several white gems protrude from his silver hair. His attire consists of a frilly white shirt and knee socks, light grey shorts and shoes, and a darker grey vest. His outermost layer is a cape that matches the color of his shorts, and is decorated with a pale blue tie. Connected to the tie are three gray ribbons; two hang off of his shoulders and the third circles behind his neck. Jade's Lose animation omits his cape and the gems on his head. Although he received a new portrait, this appearance is used again for Prey in pop'n music うさぎと猫と少年の夢, and Majestaria in pop'n music 解明リドルズ.

Jade's 2P palette changes his hair to black with red gems, and his eyes become green. His shirt is dark grey, his vest is white, his socks and tie are red, and his shorts and shoes are black. His cape is also black, with lighter grey trim and ribbons.
Other Appearances
- "(giggles)... I've become quite godlike, haven't I? This time I'm trying to become god through my appearance, but it seems like it would be a little difficult to procure that thing behind him!"
- ―Change Card Info
In his Change Card from the pop'n music éclale vol.1 Card collection, Jade wears clothing similar to MZD's from his Lapistoria design. There are some differences: his jacket is dark blue, his vest, shorts, and hat are grey, and he wears white gloves. He also holds a plush of Hatena's head.
