Profile
Mebae are a duo of dancing puppets that are owned and controlled by Zizz. Their quirk is that they speak entirely backwards.
Appearance
Modernism
Mebae consists of one two puppets, one male and one female. Both have rectangular heads, prominent lips, and antennae topped with triangles. The man has pointed ears and short black hair, and he wears a tuxedo. The Woman has black bobbed hair. Her sleeveless dress is pink with black and red trim. She also wears white gloves, red shoes, and a red beret decorated with a black feather.
In their 2P color palette, their skin becomes a purpleish color. The man's clothing colors are unchanged, while the woman's dress becomes dusty blue with the red parts of her outfit now being a darker blue. This palette was used for 昭和初期歌謡 from ee'MALL 2nd avenue in Pop'n Music 10.
Highso
Mebae receive new rockabilly-style outfits. The woman wears a black sleeveless top over a red skirt with white polka dots and frilly trim. She has a large head bow and that matches her skirt and shoes. She wears frilly white gloves and has white earrings. The man's hair is slightly longer than before, and he wears a red shirt with a white tie. His black pants are held up by suspenders, and he has white shoes.
Hinamatsuri
The woman wears a fuchsia ballgown, with chartreuse and yellow accents and a white section in the center. She has a pink and yellow flower or crown at the base of her antenna. The man wears an indigo tailcoat, with a white jabot at the neck and gold buttons. His pants are black, and he has a blue decoration sticking out from his head.
Cameos
Mebae appear in all of Zizz's FEVER animations, being puppeteered by him. In his Pop'n Music 15 ADVENTURE FEVER animation, the two have rococo-styled outfits and hairstyles.

- Mebae share their birthdate with June and Jeff.
- Their birthdate also coincides with the date of the first successful radio broadcast in Japan, which was on June 1st, 1925.
- "Mebae (芽生え)" literally means "bud" or "sprout", but it can also refer to the "seeds" of something that is beginning to happen. This second meaning could be yet another reference to the birth of radio.
- Some of Mebae's animations include dialogue.
