Ludroth are Leviathans introduced in Monster Hunter 3.
Physiology
Ludroth are mostly yellow-green in coloration, with long, sinewy bodies that enable swift and sweeping underwater movements to confuse their prey. Their claws are stubby, but effective, their strong tails end in reinforced bony segments, and their powerful jaws grant then moderately strong bites.
The majority of Ludroth are female, and form harems around the male Royal Ludroth, which has a notable sponge coating. Female Ludroth also have a sponge like material growing on them, which is the yellow-brown stripes along their neck. It is unclear whether the sponges are parts of a co-evolved symbiotic relationship or the result of some unknown traits.
Abilities
Ludroth are capable of producing globules of mucus that they can spit at enemies. The mucus inflicts Waterblight on hunters, which slows the speed of stamina recovery.
Behavior
Ludroth are amphibious monsters that should not be taken lightly.While on land, they can utilize their serpentine build to slither and pounce on hunters, as well as spitting mucus globules. When threatened, they emit a barking noise. However, Ludroth are far more dangerous underwater as they have far more range and a wider variety of attacks. Being notably swifter, and with attacks that may disorient an unsuspecting hunter, a Ludroth in her natural habitat can be a challenge, and small crowds of Ludroth are also found more often underwater.
Habitat
Ludroth inhabit places with an abundance of food and a suitable blend of coastline and aquatic environment as territory. For instance, the Flooded Forest and the Deserted Island.

General Notes
- Ludroth are afraid of torches. While holding a torch, they won't attack and keep retreating. The same effect is induced when Cha-Cha wears the Lamp Mask. If a Ludroth is struck twice with a torch, it will flee by digging into the ground.
- Ludroth will also dig into the ground if hit by a Dung Bomb.
- Ludroth can be summoned (in only a few Areas) when Royal Ludroth appears.
- Ludroth can be stunned.
