Gravios is covered in a dense, stone-like armored shell which protects its body from physical damage. It is very large in size, towering over most other wyverns and measuring several dozen feet in length. Because of its size and incredible weight, it is only capable of limited flight, despite having large and seemingly-developed wings. It has a thick tail with a mace-like club at the end.
Abilities
While the Gravios seems to have lost its poisonous gas that the premature form, Basarios, possesses, gaps in the Gravios' underside expel a knockout gas potent enough to put many monsters to sleep. Furthermore, these defense mechanisms may be used to deter would-be predators, although there would be few monsters able to penetrate the Gravios's shell. Gravios can also expel flammable gas as a waste product of its 'heat beam', and of its diet.
Behavior
Gravios is relatively docile until provoked. Like most wyverns, it is fiercely territorial. The Gravios inhabits large areas of the Volcano, where it is sufficiently large enough to incubate and raise its juvenile Basarios.
Habitats
Gravios can be found in the Volcano and Swamp. It can easily withstand the heat of molten lava, and traverse it at will. Gravios eats rocks and minerals for nutrients.
Other Non-Subspecies Forms
Hard Core (HC) Gravios
It appears to be an older Gravios than usual due to further growth of spikes and muscles. This orange eyed living tank has an improved high speed beam sweep that, once charged, is able to sweep across in only 1 second making it both easy to avoid when timed correctly and deadly if not evaded. The beam is so strong the Gravios itself almost falls over.
It also has a new charge attack where it steps back while turning towards its intended target to then charge forward by jumping and sliding instantly at high speed finished by slamming the ground.
It also has a new tail attack where it walks forward then lifts its tail in the air slowly as if charging a attack then swinging it fast and violently, causing great damage.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Flying Wyverns that inhabit volcanic regions. Capable of attacking with fiery breath and sleeping gas. The carapace-like bone they have developed on their bodies for protection are incredibly hard.
Gravios can put its enemies to Sleep with a gas emitted from pores around its body.
The stomach can be broken twice - the first will reveal the monster's muscle layers, while the second makes the break in its stomach larger. Once this happens, the stomach will receive more damage.
When its legs receive a great deal of damage, it will roll over, dealing damage to whatever it hits. Gravios will also roll over when KO'd.
It can be determined which kind of beam it will do by the sound of its voice. When it is higher pitched, its fire beam will go side to side.
At some time in battles, Gravios may seemingly fly up. However, it should be noted that there is no wind effect as with other monsters, and it will follow up by slamming its body down on the ground, inflicting some medium damage and creating a wide area quake effect.
The fire beam can be blocked using the Guard Increase skill - however, it cannot be completely blocked even when using Guard +2 and Guard Increase simultaneously - the hunter who has blocked the strike will still take damage.
Using Flash Bombs can blind a Gravios for roughly 10-15 seconds.
Gravios' roar requires HG Earplugs to block.
Its roar when becoming enraged only requires Earplugs.
In the first and second generations (barring Freedom Unite), the red gas that follows the beam is less predictable, as the smoke cue preceding the red gas was not added until Unite.
Gravios was voted 139th place in the Hunters' Choice for Top Monster during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.[1]
The red gas that comes after the beam can be predicted, as the Gravios will emit small black smoke around its body.
Gravios can use Poison gas in the quest "Armored Supremacy". (https://youtu.be/LgoKKBns5eY). This however is likely a bug, as Gravios is not meant to be able to use this status.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Gravios' back, legs, wings, and head can broken for the first time.
When one of Gravios' wings is broken, it will roll over after the hopping body slam attack.
When Gravios' back is broken, it will no longer release fire gas from its belly after shooting a heat beam. It will instead release it upwards from the holes on its back.
Gravios has a unique mounting sequence where the hunter will instead mount on its stomach.
This is initiated when Gravios' back is broken or when it is exhausted.
When low on stamina it will fail to shoot its heat beams, produce gas, and take longer to recover from attacks.
In G-rank, Gravios can shoot heat flares at random targets while walking.
It can become infected by the Frenzy Virus and affected by the Apex Status.
Apex Gravios's weak spots are its legs, torso and tail tip. Attacking any other part will cause weapons to bounce and shots to be deflected, unless the Drive Wystone is active.
Apex Gravios uses G-rank Black Gravios's moveset.
Apex Gravios is unlocked in G3 Elder Hall after obtaining the G-rank special permit by hunting a combined total of 15 Gravios and Black Gravios.
There is an Event Quest where you can hunt a small Gravios which is about the size of a Basarios.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Gravios uses its entire moveset from prior games, including the Black Gravios super-beam.
It is now able to use poison gas, assumably due to Basarios not being included in Wilds.
This also makes it the second game where Basarios and Gravios are not both present; in Rise it was Gravios that was absent.
Instead of its wings like previous games, breaking one of Gravios' legs will cause it to roll over after a hopping body slam attack.
After certain attacks, the used part can be focus struck to cause a stagger, but only if said part isn't broken.
Noticeably, Gravios makes stock bear sounds during certain actions.
Monster Hunter Frontier
Gravios can be a pet.
Monster Hunter Stories 2
Gravios is a Power type monster.
Opposing Gravios’ turn to Technical attacks when enraged.
Breaking each part with a Big Barrel Bomb will boost its retreat rate.
Like the baby Black Diablos and baby Deviants in the game, baby Gravios is a paradox since baby Gravios should be Basarios.
