DAY6

DAY6 (데이식스) is a four-member pop rock boy band under JYP Entertainment's sub-label, Studio J. Originally as six, they officially debuted on September 7, 2015 with the mini album The Day.

History

2015: Debut with The Day

DAY6 made their debut as a six member band on September 7, 2015 with the mini album The Day.

2016: Junhyeok's departure, Daydream

On February 26, 2016, JYP Entertainment released a statement announcing that band member Junhyeok had officially left DAY6 and decided to terminate his exclusive contract due to personal circumstances.[1]

On March 30, the band made their first-ever comeback with the release of their second mini album Daydream.

2017: Every DAY6 project

DAY6 released their first monthly single, "Every DAY6 January" with the release of lead single "I Wait" and sidetrack "Goodbye Winter" on January 6, 2017. "Every DAY6 February" was released with the lead single "You Were Beautiful" and sidetrack "My Day" on February 6.

"Every DAY6 March" with the lead single "How Can I Say" and sidetrack "I Would" was released on March 6, 2017. "Every DAY6 April consisting of the lead single "I'm Serious" and sidetrack "Say Wow" was released on April 6. "Every DAY6 May" was released on May 8, with the lead single "Dance Dance" and sidetrack "Man in a Movie".

In June 2017, DAY6 released their first full-length album, Sunrise. It consists of the releases from January to May, the rebooted version of "Letting Go", the final version of "Congratulations", and two new tracks: "I Smile", the title track of the album and "Lean On Me". The band also announced their official fanclub name, MyDay, the same day.

Their July single, "Every DAY6 July" consisting of the lead single "Hi Hello" and sidetrack "Be Lazy" was released on July 6. "Every DAY6 August" consisting of the lead single "What Can I Do" and sidetrack "Whatever!" was released on August 7. "Every DAY6 September" with the lead single "I Loved You" and sidetrack "I'll Remember" was released on September 6, 2017.

DAY6 were originally supposed to release "Every DAY6 October" on October 10. However, it was moved forward to be released on September 29 due to Chuseok. It consists of the lead single "When You Love Someone" and the sidetrack "I Need Somebody". The music videos of their August, September, and October singles were a three-part story about high school, friendship and love.

The band's November single, "Every DAY6 November", consisting of the lead single "All Alone" and sidetrack "Pouring" was released on November 6.

On December 6, 2017, DAY6 officially concluded their monthly project with the release of their second full-length album, Moonrise. The album contained the previous releases from July to November, the lead single "I Like You", two sidetracks, "Better Better" and "I'll Try", and the final versions of the B-sides from their debut EP The Day.

2018: Youth series, Japanese debut

The band officially announced the recruitment of their first generation fan club from January 5 to 25, 2018.[2]

DAY6 made their official debut in Japan on March 14 with their first Japanese single, "If ~Mata Aetara~". The single also serves as theme song for the Japanese drama Repeat.

In May 2018, it was announced that Day6 would release their second Japanese single, "Stop The Rain", on July 25.[3]

In June 2018, the band released their first greatest hits album in Japan, The Best Day, which is composed of the band's previous Korean singles and three new-version tracks: "Congratulations" (English Ver.), "I Wait" (Japanese Ver.), and "You Were Beautiful" (English Ver.).

On June 26, Day6 released their third mini album Shoot Me : Youth Part 1. On October 17, 2018, their first Japanese full length album Unlock was released. Their fourth mini album, Remember Us : Youth Part 2 was then released on December 10.

2019–2021: The Book of Us series, first subunit, Sungjin and Young K's enlistment, Jae's departure

On January 10, 2019, the Day6 YouTube account announced that recruitment for their second-generation fan club would begin that month.[4]

DAY6 released their fifth mini album The Book of Us : Gravity on July 15, 2019. They received their first-ever music show win with the album's title track, "Time of Our Life", on July 24.[5]

On October 22, the band released their third Korean-language full-length album, "The Book of Us : Entropy".[6] On December 4, 2019, they released their second compilation album The Best Day2.

On April 27, 2020, JYP Entertainment announced that DAY6 would be making a comeback with their sixth mini album, The Book of Us : The Demon, on May 11.[7] On May 10, it was announced that the group would temporarily halt all of their activities to focus on their mental health.[8] The album was still released on May 11 with the group on temporary hiatus.

The band's first subunit, DAY6 (Even of Day), made their debut on August 31, 2020, with their first mini album The Book of Us : Gluon - Nothing Can Tear Us Apart.[9][10]

It was announced on February 26, 2021 that DAY6 would make a full group comeback in April.[11] On April 19, the band released their seventh mini album The Book of Us : Negentropy - Chaos Swallowed Up in Love. Due to Sungjin's military enlistment, the group decided that they would not be doing album promotions on music shows.[12]

Young K enlisted on October 12.[13]

On December 31, Jae announced on his Twitter account that he would be temporarily halting all of his activities and taking a hiatus from DAY6 promotions.[14] The same day, it was announced that Jae would officially be leaving the band and JYP after deciding to terminate his exclusive contract.[15]

2022–2023: Military service

Dowoon became the group's third member to enlist in military service on January 17, 2022.[16]

Wonpil made his solo debut with the release of his first full length album, Pilmography. He later on enlisted on March 28.[17]

On September 6, the day before DAY6's seventh debut anniversary, Sungjin was officially discharged from mandatory military service.[18]

On September 26, JYP Entertainment announced that all four band members had renewed their exclusive contracts with the agency.[19]

Young K was discharged on April 11, 2023,[20] followed by Dowoon on July 16,[21] and Wonpil on October 31.[22]

On November 28, DAY6 announced their first schedule as a group following the members' discharge, a three-day concert titled DAY6 Christmas Special Concert 'The Present : You are My Day', which will take place on December 22 to December 24.[23]

2024: Fourever, Band Aid

On February 16, it was confirmed that DAY6 is preparing for their upcoming comeback, aiming for a March release.[24] On March 4, the group released the trailer film for their eighth mini album Fourever, which was released on March 18.[25]

On August 9, the group released the trailer film for their ninth mini album Band Aid, which will be released on September 2.[26]

2025: "Maybe Tomorrow"

On April 25, the group announced that they would release their 12th digital single "Maybe Tomorrow", on May 7.[27]
