KickFlip (Korean: 킥플립; Japanese: キックフリップ) is a seven-member South Korean boy group under JYP Entertainment. Formed through the SBS survival show LOUD, they made their debut on January 20, 2025 with the mini album Flip It, Kick It!.
History
Pre-debut: LOUD, Yoon Min's departure
On November 2, 2020, SBS announced that they would be launching a new boy group audition show in collaboration with JYP Entertainment's J.Y. Park and P Nation's PSY to create two global boy groups. Applications were open from November 2, 2020 to January 31, 2021 for males born in or after the year 2000.[1][2]
The show, LOUD, began airing on June 5, and ended on September 11, 2021, with Yoon Min, Lee Gye Hun, Amaru, Keiju and Lee Dong Hyeon being selected as members of the future boy group of JYP Entertainment.[3]
On April 11, 2023, Yoon Min opened up an Instagram account, thus confirming his departure from JYP Entertainment and the group.[4]
2025: Debut with Flip It, Kick It!, upcoming release
According to JYP Entertainment's investors relations report, the group is scheduled to debut in the second half of 2024.[5] On November 22, 2024, a teaser image was released announcing that the group, named KickFlip, would make their debut announcement on January 1, 2025.[6] However, on December 30, it was announced that all of their activities would be postponed to January 6 due to the recent Jeju Air Flight 2216 crash accident.[7]
On January 5, KickFlip announced their debut mini album, Flip It, Kick It!, scheduled for January 20.[8] All seven members were revealed later that day, with new faces Donghwa, Juwang, and Minje being introduced.[9]
On April 18, it was reported that KickFlip would come back with a new album at the end of May.[10]
