History

Wacky Pipes is first seen in the opening cutscene of both games, where the tiki hypnotizes a giraffe to help steal all bananas in the Donkey Kong Island.

Later, Wacky Pipes appears in the boss level Mangoruby run in the Forest, where it is seen playing a tune to hypnotize and control the creature Mangoruby. When the boss is defeated, like all of other Tiki Tak Tribe leaders, Wacky Pipes will leave Mangoruby's body and stay dizzy for a few moments. The player can jump towards the tiki, beat it multiple times, and send it flying away. If the player waits, Wacky Pipes will eventually fly away towards the screen and leave.

Wacky Pipes is seen again in the final boss fight, where Tiki Tong turns all of the Tiki Tak Tribe leaders into hands for it. Like the other tikis, Wacky Pipes is presumably destroyed when the Kongs defeat Tiki Tong.

Personality

Unlike most other tikis, Wacky Pipes appears to be laidback and rather docile. You might notice that Wacky Pipes flys at the screen a little bit more slowly than the others. Its eyes also seems to be tired. But when it encounters Kongs, it becomes surprised. However, it also seems as if Wacky Pipes can be a little bit stubborn and slightly pushy at times.

Wacky Pipes hiccups once after being defeated.

Appearance

Wacky Pipes has a large amount of feathers all over its body. These feathers are blue and yellow and cyan. It also has two different colored eyelids, one blue and one red. The blue eye is larger than the other. It also has yellow eyebrows. Another feature is that the tiki has a ring design around its right eyeball. The tiki also has an insane, yet zen expression in its eyes, similar to Gong-Oh, except Wacky Pipes' eyes are not rendered backwards colored. The tiki has three pipes protruding from the back of its head, which seem to have marks on them from an unknown cause. It has what appears to be a net on its face, symbolizing what its mouth would look like, if it had one, assumably. It has arms with three claws on them.

Trivia

  • Despite its name, Wacky Pipes seems based off a pan flute[1], a wind instrument originated from the ancient Greece.
  • Wacky Pipes' tune is Krazy Kalimba's base tune, with a pan flute playing over it in the same fashion of Kalimba's tune.
  • This tiki is the third most-appearing tiki in both games.
  • Wacky Pipes has three fingers, like the following tikis: Krazy Kalimba, Banjo Bottom and Cordian.
  • The Tiki Tak Tribe leader is the third largest tiki in both games, exceeding a small amount over Krazy Kalimba, but is far off from Cordian.
  • It also has leaves like the following tikis: the Maraca Gang, Cordian and Banjo Bottom.
  • Wacky Pipes is also the most spherical tiki in both games, excluding the flute on its back and hands.
  • The tiki also has multiple colored leaves, which make it more unique.
  • Wacky Pipes is also the fourth most damaged tiki, showing marks on its flutes and such.
  • It also has the third shortest limbs in both games, just beating Krazy Kalimba by a small bit. This does not include the Maraca Gang, since they do not have limbs.
  • Error: after Wacky Pipes got out with tired eyes, we do not see a Tiki Tank in between Tiki Torch and Tiki Goon. But after two next shots, we can see the Tiki Tank behind Wacky Pipes.
