Cham-su-ri

The Cham-su-ri (참수리, meaning "sea eagle") is a South Korean Air Defense Patrol Boat that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History

Chamsuri were first built in 1979. Two subvariants were made with 54 PKM 201 and 47 PKM 301. Ingame Cham-su-ri represent PKM 301 subvariant which was armed with Bofors 40 mm/L60 gun, the two single-mounted Sea Vulcans and the single-mounted 12.7 mm machine guns. These ships are being replaced by Yoon Youngha-class patrol vessel.

Overview

The Cham-su-ri is a fast, cheap, anti-ASM ship, its primary weapon being the Sea Vulcan CIWS autocannon. This ship is heavily focused towards defeating ASMs, and does poorly against most other targets. The Bofors 40mm gun is only useful at close range, and should only be used rarely.

When using the Cham-su-ri against ASMs, remember that it can only shoot at one missile at a time. If an enemy fleet launches a large wave of ASMs, even multiple Cham-su-ri units will struggle to fend off the attack. For this reason it is best to keep Cham-su-ris spaced out from one another, but still close to the main fleet.
