Sonic Racing[1][2] is a mobile racing game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed by Sega and Hardlight. It was released for the Apple Arcade service on iOS devices, macOS and Apple TV on 19 September 2019. It was released to promote Team Sonic Racing.

Common | Drops onto the track behind you damaging any opponent who drives into it. Upgrade to increase damage and for increased chance of multiple Blue Cubes |
 Crimson Wisp (Crimson Eagle) |
Rare | Homes in on an opponent ahead and explodes on impact. Upgrade to increase damage and for increased chance of multiple Crimson Eagles. |
 Cyan Wisp (Cyan Laser) |
Common | Locks onto an opponent in range and blasts them with a laser after a short time. Upgrade to increase damage and the lock-on range. |
 Gray Wisp (Gray Quake) |
Rare | Flies far ahead and creates several obstacles. Upgrade to increase damage and the number of obstacles. |
 Ivory Wisp (Ivory Lightning) |
Super Rare | Strikes the leading opponent with lightning unless you take damage or they can dodge out of the way in time. Upgrade to increase damage and the number of targeted opponents. |
 Jade Wisp (Jade Ghost) |
Super Rare | Makes you intangible, preventing you from colliding with anything, and steals a Wisp from a nearby opponent. Upgrade to increase the range you can steal from and the level of the stolen Wisp. |
 Magenta Wisp (Magenta Rhythm) |
Common | Causes all opponents to become disorientated and obscures their view of the track. Upgrade to increase duration. |
 Orange Wisp (Orange Rocket) |
Fires straight ahead and rebounds off walls, exploding when it hits an opponent. Upgrade to increase damage and for increased chance of multiple Orange Rockets. | |
 Pink Wisp (Pink Spikes) |
Rare | Surrounds you with vicious spikes, damaging opponents who get close. Upgrade to increase damage and duration. |
 Red Wisp (Red Burst) |
Creates a deadly trail of fire behind you. Upgrade to increase duration. | |
 Violet Wisp (Violet Void) |
Common | Sucks in Rings and item capsules from the track, and Wisps fired by opponents. Upgrade to increase duration and range. |
 White Wisp (White Comet) |
Super Rare | Gain a huge boost of speed. Upgrade to increase speed. |
 Yellow Wisp (Yellow Drill) |
Transforms you into a drill and rams through opponents at high speed. Upgrade to increase damage and duration. |
Rings are also found in the game, being scattered around the various courses.

Development
The game was announced on 25 March 2019 as one of the first titles for Apple's new Apple Arcade service in an event held by Apple.[1][2]

- Version 1.2.0 (17 October 2019) - The update has brought the following changes:
- The game will now default to landscape mode. Portrait mode can still be selected via the Settings menu.
- AI team mate driving improvements.
- Faster progression through the UI.
- Fixed display issues with the notch on some iPhones.
- Version 1.2.1 (21 February 2020) - The update has brought the following changes:
- Casino Park Zone has been added!
- Battle your way through 3 new tracks: Aces Highway, Roulette Royale and Fortune Freeway.

- Version 1.3.0 (22 May 2020) - Final Fortress Zone is here! This all new environment features 3 brand new tracks that will take you into the heart of Eggman's flagship! Race past turbines and giant gun turrets as you battle your rivals for victory!

Trivia
- This is the first Sonic mobile app game where Sonic has a new 3D model for the game icon.
- Every Wisp in the game is named after their respective Color Power.
- The game mistakenly refers to the Invincibility Shield as a Wisp.
- Rouge's artwork resembles the one from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
- Sonic's profile consists of lyrics taken from "Fastest Thing Alive", the theme song for the Sonic the Hedgehog television series.
- Classic Sonic is the only playable character in this game to not physically appear in Team Sonic Racing.
