Chao Walker

The Chao Walker^[1] (チャオウォーカー^[3], Chao Wōkā^?) is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a combat mech used by a Neutral Chao. It was built for and styled after the Chao by Tails so the small creatures could fight, though there is a rumor saying that the Chao do not know how to drive the Chao Walkers very well.^[2] In addition, a dark equivalent of the Chao Walker, called the Dark Chao Walker, has been created by Dr. Eggman.

Description

Appearance

The Chao Walker is a large mechanoid stylized after the appearance of a neutral Chao. It consists of a large man-made version of a neutral Chao's head with half-closed eyes. This head also has a windshield around its upper half, which reveals the Chao Walker's cockpit and the neutral Chao piloting it from the inside. It also has a neutral Chao arm on each side and neutral Chao feet for legs. Lastly, it has small neutral Chao wings on its back.

Features and abilities

The Chao Walkers are equipped with a Volkan Cannon, the Lock-On Missile and an Omochao-styled melee weapon. They are also equipped with different missile launchers, and can fire super-sized lasers. They are also noted to be very quick on their feet.^[2]

Game appearances

Sonic Adventure 2

The Chao Walker made its first appearance in Sonic Adventure 2. In this game, it appears as a playable character in the game's shooting stages in the multiplayer mode. In the original Sonic Adventure 2, the Chao Walker is an unlockable character which can unlocked by obtaining an "A" Rank for all of Tails' stages in the regular game. In Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and the 2012 re-release of Sonic Adventure 2 on the other hand, the Chao Walker is available from the beginning of the game.

In gameplay, the Chao Walker is the fastest of all the playable characters in the shooting stages (excluding Tails when he is having the Tornado Outfit equipped to his Cyclone). This speed allows it to easily dodge attacks and deliver its own. It can also use special attacks for fewer Rings than other characters for the shooting stages. In return, however, the Chao Walker has very weak defense and even weaker attacks.^[1]

Sonic Runners

In Sonic Runners, the Chao Walker appears as an equippable Buddy. In this game, it is a S Rare Speed Type Buddy which lets Buddies absorb Rings for a limited time for every two hundred combo, and is awarded for every ten Daily Battle win streaks.
