Seijuro Kamiyama

Seijuro Kamiyama is the main protagonist of Sakura Wars (2019).

Appearance

Seijuro is a young man with combed spiky black hair and sharp brown eyes. He wears a purple waistcoat over a pale blue shirt, black gloves, well shined shoes, a red tie and dark blue trousers. He always carries his dual swords on his left hand hip which are tied to him through a twin belt holder.

History

Seijuro Kamiyama lived near Sakura Amamiya as a child, residing in a peaceful village in the countryside of Japan. The two would often play together, often competing with one another using the 'sacred' wooden swords Sakura's stern father, Tekkan Amamiya, carved for them. Eventually Sakura told Seijuro her dream to become a member of the Flower Division, which Seijuro stated he would become her captain in order to protect her. Sakura, happy to hear that, asked him if they could marry when they were older which he agreed to.

However, Seijuro's family eventually moved away from Sakura's, and Seijuro pursued his own dream, forgetting both promises with time. Seijuro studied hard at an academy to become a naval officer, meeting Reiji Shiba in the process. Reiji was depressed that he lacked spirit energy, a vital neccessity to drive a Spiracle Striker. Seijuro accidentally inspired Reiji, telling him not to give up on his dream, leading Reiji to take a different path and become a Spiracle Striker Engineer instead.

Seijuro eventually became a naval officer, given the rank of captain and being put in charge of the Marshi-ten. Seijuro took on several missions with his small crew, but one faithful day a passenger ship was attacked by demons. Whilst Seijuro and his crew did their best to save the passengers, the ship sunk as it was not equipped to deal with demon attacks. Fortunately the Shanghai Combat Revue had arrived and managed to save the passengers before any major casualties could occur.

As a result of this disaster, when Sumire Kanzaki put in a request to have Seijuro transfer to the Imperial Combat Revue, his superiors jumped at the opportunity, viewing such Seijuro's attempt to save lives as a fiasco. As a result, Seijuro was put on a train to Tokyo to meet with the new Flower Division. When arriving at the station, he witnessed another demon attack, jumping in to save a little girl. Luckily the Shanghai Combat Revue turned up once again to save the day and Seijuro's life, slaying the demon and promptly leaving.

It wasn't long before he bumped into Sakura Amamiya who was sweeping the front entrance of the theatre. Whilst neither one recognised the other, after introducing himself, Sakura was taken aback. Asking if Seijuro recognised her, he drew a blank. Upon her using the broom to perform her signature blade stance, Seijuro recognised her. Sakura then went on to show Seijuro around, introducing him to her best friend Hatsuho Shinonome, fellow Flower Division members Clarissa Snowflake and Azami Mochizuki, and Komachi Ooba, who runs the shop as part of the Wind Division.

Seijuro then reports in to Sumire Kanzaki, a former member of the original Imperial Combat Revue, and discovers just how in trouble the Imperial theatre is. Their mugens are old and ineffective, the Shanghai Combat Revue has moved into their territory to defend the people from demons due to them being unable to do so and they have very little finance coming in as the theatre has lost a great deal of popularity due to losing all of it's core members to the Great Demon War. Not only that, the current Flower Division members acting is below standard and the only people who come to watch are those who come to laugh at their disasterous shows.

Seijuro calls in a favour, and gets Reiji Shiba to help fix up the Mugens, Sumire manages to get famed actress Anastasia Palma to come and act at the theatre, bringing in more genuine customers and sets the group a seemingly impossible challenge; to win at the Combat Revue games, a competitive demon slaying sports tournament.

Seijuro helps Clarissa Snowflake discover the joys of script writing, and helps her overcome her fear of her Libromancy powers, the former improving the turnout to the theatre, and the latter allowing Claris to become a more effective and confident combatant.

He helps Hatsuho Shinonome see her worth, which proves vital at dragging a depressed Sakura out of her slump later on. Hatsuho slowly shows her more feminine side to him as time goes on too.
