The following Animal Friends are friends/allies of Sonic the Hedgehog, and commonly kidnapped and used as living batteries for Badniks by Dr. Eggman.

Sonic the Hedgehog

• Flicky - First appearing in the game Flicky, Flash Point and Bloxeed as a hero of their own before being brought into the Sonic the Hedgehog series in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit). These little birds are amongst the most prominent and famous Animal Friends. Flicky have appeared in major roles within the series such as Sonic 3D Blast in which they and their island are a focal point, Sonic Adventure in which three of them are a major part of Amy Rose and E-102 Gamma's storylines and appearing as part of Tails' Super Transformation in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
• Cucky - A race of chickens first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit), the Sonic Bible attributes Cucky(then named Chirps) to being the one who accidentally inspired Sonic's spindash when he was learning to fly and tumbled over himself.
• Pecky - a race of penguins first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit), the Sonic Bible attributes Pecky(then named Tux) to being the one who showed Sonic how to find air bubbles under water.
• Picky - a race of pigs first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit), the Sonic Bible attributes Picky(then named Porker Lewis) to teaching Sonic a fear of fire, however this is a part of Sonic lore that hasn't stuck. Picky was also the basis for Porker Lewis in Sonic the Comic where he was the technical expert of the Freedom Fighters.
• Pocky - a race of rabbits first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit), the Sonic Bible attributes Pocky(then named Johnny Lightfoot) to teaching Sonic how to outrun every creature in the forest. Pocky was also the basis for both Johnny Lightfoot in Sonic the Comic where he was a skilled fighter who wielded a staff and for Archie/SatAM's Bunnie D'Coolette.
• Ricky - a race of squirrel creatures first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit), the Sonic Bible attributes Ricky(then named Sally Acorn) to being the one who taught Sonic how to leap great distances. Ricky was also the basis for Sally Acorn in the Archie/SatAM productions where her species was changed from a squirrel to a chipmunk.
• Rocky - a race of walrus creatures first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog (16 bit), the Sonic Bible attributes Rocky(then named Joe Sushi) to being the one who taught Sonic how to dive and swim great distances, an aspect of Sonic lore that didn't stick at all as Sonic famously cannot swim. Rocky was also the basis for Rotor in the Archie/SatAM productions.

Trivia

• A misconception is how people think the animals that come out of the capsules when you defeat Doctor Robotnik are randomized, but that is not the case. Cucky, for example, actually only appears in Springyard zone and ScrapBrain zone.
