The Foolix is the fourth boss in Pikmin 4. This creature resembles an orange Goolix and has a core with a tail. The Foolix can absorb Pikmin, similar to the Mysterious Life Form. As a method of defense and stealth, it disguises itself as nectar before battle.

"If you take the microorganisms I used to peer at through my microscope as a child and blow them up much, MUCH bigger, this is what you would get. A huge, single-celled sweetie, it blorpily sloshes around in search of food. To this giant, we're the microorganisms!"

"A member of the Goolix family, this primitive life-form is made up of a single cell, which is quite odd given its size. It's nucleus is shaped like a bulbous star, and individuals move by using the fin at the end of its flagellum-like tail to quickly expand and contract its gelatinous body. If the nucleus is removed, its soft body loses all structure and splatters. But as long as the nucleus in still alive, the Foolix can return to its original form. Usually, the Foolix will mimic nectar and wait for its prey. Its gel, which includes fire-extinguishing fluids, will then expand to capture and feed on unsuspecting organisms."

Strategy

To defeat this creature, you must have Pikmin pull on its tail. The most optimal strategy is to use two Purple Pikmin to do this. Then, when it bursts, you should rush the nucleus and avoid the small amounts of gel that have will have splattered across the arena. You'll want to attack quickly though, as the Foolix will quickly regain its shape and begin attacking again. Alternatively, you can use Ice Pikmin until the Foolix freezes, and then use Oatchi's Rush to damage it.

Trivia

• This is one of the few enemies that possesses the ability to disguise themselves as another object. The others being the Creeping Chrysanthemum, Startle Spore, Skitter Leaf, and Desiccated Skitter Leaf, which disguises itself as a Margaret, Mushroom, leaf, or dead leaf respectively.
• Excluding the Ancient Sirehound's total health, the Foolix has the second most health out of any enemy in the game (12000). First place are Puffstool and Toxstool, both tied with 15000 health.
