Pikmin 4 |
The Crusted Rumpup is a boss in Pikmin 4, fought in Serene Shores. It is a scorpion-like creature with red and dark green shell, which is extremely durable. On the underside of its tail, there is yellow fur, and on the end of its tail, there is a bright yellow ball. It has two yellow dot-eyes. Its defeat is necessary to unlock the Sand Keep base.

But its face and personality exhibit only true ferocity! It will open its mouth wide and charge you with alarming speed. The juxtaposition of its artistic exterior coupled with an aggressive attitude is intriguing!"

"Its body is covered in a hard carapace, and it has an extremely ferocious personality. It spreads its sharp-fanged jaws to catch its prey. The Crusted Rumpup suffers from poor vision, but it uses the fine hairs on the lower part of its tail and the ball-shaped sensory organ at its tip to detect faint quasi-electric fields emitted by other organisms. In short, it has other ways to sense its predators and prey."

Strategy
While the imposing stature of the Crusted Rumpup is often at first intimidating, it's actually not much of a threat. Start by riding Oatchi if applicable, and then stay in once place until it charges at you. When it does, move away, and go around it. Throw two Purple Pikmin or fifteen non-Purple Pikmin onto its tail, and then pummel the yellow ball. Whistle your Pikmin when it gets back up, and repeat the process until its defeat.
